They gave Mya a heart of gold!! This is well worth supporting!!
On Sunday March 17th, my family and my Ohio Valley GE HealthCare family will be participating in the American Heart Association Heart Walk to raise awareness and $$’s to support a cause that hits very close to home for me. Our daughter, Mya, is my constant reminder for why the AHA's mission is so important. For those that don’t know our story, Mya was born with a very rare congenital heart defect that was diagnosed in-utero at our 20 week anatomy scan. We had planned for months on what her surgical path would be but unfortunately that all came crashing down during her first open heart surgery at 7 days old....she would need a new heart. At just 10 weeks old, we received a 2AM phone call that they had found a heart for Mya. 12 hours later, she was back in her CVICU room at Cincinnati Childrens with a perfect new heart. Fast forward 13 years, we have a very typical 13 year old girl…evidence is she got on the bus this morning carrying her gigantic Stanley mug 😊. We couldn’t be more thankful for the world class care she has received over the years from all of the doctors and clinicians at Cincinnati Childrens. It’s an honor to work in this industry and for a company that provides technology and services that enable places like Cincinnati Children's and Bon Secours Mercy Health to care for patients like Mya. I’m resurrecting the Miles for Mya team that our friends started years ago (Steve Bostater) to raise money for this years' heart walk. As a parent of college students, I empathize with this family. It’s scary. Matthew is a RIT student who was last seen in upstate NY. There are more questions than answers. Whether it’s by choice or nefarious, a family and university community are worried for him. By all outward appearances, everything was going well. Junior engineering student, captain of the wrestling team, and had lots of friends. If you recognize this missing person or the vehicle, please report it to the police.
