#SummerWeek at ClearForMe Who said Summer Camp was only for kids⁉ This week, we wrapped up a short and super productive week at ClearForMe. Taking advantage of #July4 falling on a Thursday and a shorter workweek, we did some upskilling activities early in the week - thanks to Sharon Deena Mathew for #Cybersecurity Training and Mike Davis for some MBA-level fundamental coursework to teach us frameworks to better understand our #Customer. We capped that off today with a Charcuterie Lunch Party, where each of us brought different foods on the Charcuterie/Cutting Boards that we each handmade from our earlier team building workshop at Philadelphia Woodworks. One thing I loved about our cornucopia is the diversity of foods and cultures from our team - a true reflection of what our nation is built on. The spread was beautiful - felt like Thanksgiving in July 🌞 I'm truly grateful to work with such a fantastic team of professionals that bring their A-game every day and, in turn, brings the A-game out of me every day. It was such a fun convo on the How Tech will Power DEI Panel at the Voices of Beauty Summit in Los Angeles yesterday ✨ 💄 Some themes from the conference and our panel that stood out were: 1) With the rise of TikTok and IG Reels, shoppers are searching for inclusive content to see videos of real people like them - across skin tone, skin type, hair type, age, gender, and more. And the data shows that this content drives conversion and sales on DTC. 2) Gen Z and Gen Alpha are more willing to try new brands and love an underdog story, which provides a huge opportunity for Founders/brands in new categories and stores. (Winnie Park, CEO of Forever 21) 3) It’s important for brands and retailers to hire and retain diverse talent to represent your customers. (Lisa Green, VP DMM of Beauty at JCP Beauty) 4) AI models won’t work for consumers unless they are trained on representative datasets.
