Urge 3M, Amazon, Apple, Cisco, The Coca-Cola Company, Ford Motor Company, Google, Johnson & Johnson, Meta, Microsoft, PepsiCo, Pfizer, Qualcomm, Salesforce, and Visa to step up their climate leadership. It’s time to call on these companies to use their influence to catalyze meaningful climate policy action and live up to their green reputations. Why are these 15 companies undermining their sustainability commitments by lobbying against climate policy? Leadership means no longer lobbying against climate policies via your trade associations. These companies must close the gap between their public support of climate policy while simultaneously funding efforts that oppose it. It’s time they stop letting their trade associations such as the Business Roundtable and U.S. Chamber of Commerce speak for them on climate. #GuiltByTradeAssociation #LeadOnClimatePolicy

Mobilizing the voice of the workforce to urge companies to go “all in” on climate change
About us
Our mission is to mobilize the voice of the workforce to urge companies to go “all in” on climate, both in business practices and policy advocacy. Unleashing the muscle of the corporate sector will be a climate game changer, tipping the balance on policy battles that are now stacked in favor of polluting industries. Achieving ambitious carbon reduction goals (50% by 2030 and zero by 2050) will take broad and sweeping action. These goals require urgent public policy changes at the local, state and federal levels. A mobilized workforce will make sure that companies step up and advocate.

“In responding to the climate crisis, we are confronted with the ultimate adaptive challenge. There is no perfect blueprint for change. And there are certainly hundreds of competing approaches on what is effective and what is not. Ultimately, we are playing our parts in complex and evolving systems, with each system requiring a certain threshold of feedback in order to change. “ So, what do we do? Read this timely piece by ClimateVoice Director and beautiful human Deborah McNamara on how she struggles and finds a way forward in these complex times.
Even though changing complex systems is hard, we can’t slow down on enabling climate solutions

Spot on. Thank you, Rebecca Solnit! The approach advocated by Schmidt is defeatism masquerading as “greenwishing” - and guarantees years of continued dithering and delay - and more frequent and worse catastrophes. Sure, innovate the crap out of fusion, AI, DCA, etc - but focus NOW on rapid deployment of the miracles we’ve created in the last few decades - wind, solar, cheap storage, EVs, heat pumps, etc. Those will solve 80-90% of the problem - and will get cheaper and better as they scale. (Google “Wright’s Law”) And hint: doing that rapidly at scale requires regulation. Schmidt says “we’re not organized” to solve the climate crisis. True - but that’s not an exogenous truth. It’s a fact of our current system engineered by years of disinformation from the special interests who profit from a fossil fuel economy. Schmidt and his climate-concerned peers are smart, rich beyond imagining, and influential. What if they devoted their considerable resources to addressing the root cause of the problem - and helped us get organized to solve the problem. Bill Gates used his influence to help pass the IRA in 2022. He, Schmidt and others should do the same in a more systemic strategic way to counter the obstruction from the fossil fuel industry. https://lnkd.in/g8exxkqm

When I slow down to become still in the midst of the continual pendulum swings of politics, backlashes, and special interests, I remember that we are all in this together. We all have a place we call home. We all have family members and loved ones. There is no us versus them when it comes to climate impacts and environmental destruction. We all face the consequences – which is why it is so essential to double down on enacting and enabling solutions available to us now.
