Thank you, Ibrahim Rashid, MPP and ImpactAlpha, for highlighting CNote in your article about how hospitals are addressing social determinants of health through innovative financial strategies! "The most practical way for hospitals to engage in social determinants of health-related investments, while fulfilling fiduciary obligations, is through cash deposits and targeted CDFI debt purchases. Most Treasury departments and investment committees can also utilize innovative products like CNote’s Impact Cash® to diversify cash holdings across various vetted CDFI banks and credit unions – a practice especially prudent following the recent collapse of Silicon Valley Bank." #ImpactCash #CDFI #Healthcare #SustainableFinance #CommunityImpact #CNote #Fintech Read the article here: https://lnkd.in/eXSw4Cf9

CNote's mission is to build a more inclusive economy for all through financial innovation
About us
CNote gives corporations, institutions and individuals a simple, effective way to invest in under-resourced communities at scale. The women-led technology platform deploys corporate cash into loan funds and insured deposit products at impact-driven community financial institutions that advance economic equality, racial justice, gender equity and climate change initiatives. Corporate leaders including Apple, Mastercard, Patagonia, PayPal and Netflix use CNote’s platform to advance their diversity, equity and inclusion goals by authentically supporting low-income communities and communities of color. They earn returns comparable to what conventional products yield—while providing essential capital to minority depository institutions (MDIs), community development financial institutions (CDFIs), low-income designated (LID) credit unions and other impact finance organizations. Individuals can also invest through the platform to support an economy that works for everyone. CNote founders Catherine Berman, CEO, and Yuliya Tarasava, COO, launched CNote in 2016 with a mission to close the wealth gap through financial innovation. Based in Oakland, California, CNote is a Certified B Corporation and is GIIRS rated.

📢 My latest for ImpactAlpha: How hospitals & CDFIs are advancing social determinants of health. 🏥 Nonprofit hospitals are investing in social factors like 🏠 housing, 🥦 nutrition, and 💼 jobs to improve health outcomes & reduce costs. With only 10-20% of health results tied to clinical care, partnerships with CDFIs and CRA investors help hospitals meet community needs effectively. 📜 The Affordable Care Act requires hospitals to allocate funds to “community benefits” like affordable housing & workforce development. By partnering with CDFIs, they can make low-cost, high-impact investments that meet regulatory needs and drive local impact. 🌍 🔑 Solutions like cash deposits or direct investments with CDFIs and products like CNote's Impact Cash or Calvert Impact 's Community Investment Note make it easy for hospitals to support community projects while diversifying holdings. i'm thinking and writing a lot about how allocators can be more intentional impact and systems level investors. If these ideas resonate with you, please reach out. #ImpactInvesting #CommunityHealth #SocialDeterminants #HealthcareInnovation https://lnkd.in/gHmGXzsw

The recent hurricanes on the East Coast of the United States have left a trail of devastation, impacting homes, businesses, and the lives of thousands. These storms, like many natural disasters, disproportionately affect low- to moderate-income (LMI) and Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) communities—those least equipped to recover quickly. In times of disaster, financial support is critical to rebuilding, but for many in these underserved communities, the lack of resources deepens the already existing inequality. CNote’s Disaster Recovery and Resilience Program aims to bridge that gap, providing support through loans and insured deposits to community financial institutions that help these communities rebuild and prepare for future challenges.
