  • Photographer Conor Ashleigh, who captured this captivating photo, tied for the first-place winner in Category 3 🙌 At Bathurst Correctional Centre, New South Wales, Australia, a nurse performs point-of-care hepatitis C testing for inmates. The program operates under Justice Health NSW in partnership with the Kirby Institute, UNSW Sidney, and the Australia National Hepatitis C Program. Photographer Conor Ashleigh explains: “Through the prison gates, a dedicated nurse [is] extending vital healthcare to an often-overlooked population. An inmate's hand, reaching through the bars, symbolizes both vulnerability and hope as a gloved healthcare worker collects a blood sample.” Read more on the UNSW, NSW Justice Health & Forensic Mental Health Network, and Australia National Hepatitic C Program initiative and view this year's winning photos here, https://buff.ly/3VImeti

  • 📸 Congratulations to the first-place (tie) winner for Category 3 - Hepatitis Elimination is Health Equity: Ensuring hepatitis care is accessible to all, Axelle Vanderlinden. The sessions aim to raise awareness about hepatitis B, reduce stigma, and highlight the importance of testing to prevent mother-to-child transmission. Many of these mothers come from underserved, hard-to-reach communities, and this initiative ensures that vital hepatitis B information reaches vulnerable populations. Doing so promotes health equity and empowers women and their communities with the knowledge needed to prevent and manage hepatitis B.
