Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, which honors the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans in Texas learned of their freedom, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. This day serves as a reminder of the resilience and strength of the African American community, while providing an opportunity for all Americans to consider how we can make our society more just and equitable. With that said, we invite you to join us in celebrating and commemorating this important day. And please note our office will be closed today in observance of Juneteenth. Should you have any questions or needs during this time, feel free to reach out via email or leave a message, and we'll get back to you as soon as we return.

Did you know that every person accused of a crime has fundamental rights protected under the law? These include the right to remain silent, the right to avoid self-incrimination, and the right to legal representation. On the note of legal representation, it is an especially key protection, offering those accused of a crime: ✅ Expert Guidance - Navigating the legal system can be complex and intimidating. A qualified attorney provides the expertise necessary to navigate this system effectively. ✅ Protection of Rights - An attorney ensures that your rights are protected and that you receive a fair trial. ✅ Advocate in Court - Your lawyer is your voice in the courtroom, advocating on your behalf and presenting your case in the best possible light. Remember, choosing to secure legal representation is not an admission of guilt; it is smart to exercise your rights. Whether you're seeking advice, need representation, or simply have questions about the legal process, our team is here to support you every step of the way. Call us when you need us.

Terminology can be tough, especially when it's about something you may not be an expert in – such as criminal law. We thought we would make it as easy as the ABCs: - Acquittal: Final judgment in a case where a defendant is not proven guilty - Adjudication: A formal judgment on a court matter by a judge or jury - Arraignment: Court session where the defendant issues their plea and is charged - Bench trial: Trial where there is only a judge and no jury involved - Charge: Formal complaint of a crime made in court against a defendant - Compensatory damages: Money owed by the defendant to the plaintiff - Detention: Temporary detainment or custody of a suspect or defendant - Discovery: The prosecution turns over evidence in the case to the defendant Feel free to share this post to help inform others and reach out to us if we can help answer any questions.

Unfortunately, accidents involving drivers who do not have insurance are common, as millions of Americans drive without insurance 🚗 In such cases, without Uninsured Motorist Coverage (UM), the options for recourse can be severely limited. Given this risk, we strongly recommend considering UM coverage. UM coverage is especially beneficial after hit-and-run incidents involving stolen vehicles, which are all too common. Because the driver is unknown, legal action is often not possible. In such cases, UM coverage covers medical expenses, lost wages, and other related damages, which would otherwise fall heavily on the victim. If you have questions about uninsured motorists or about your options in accident scenarios, please don't hesitate to reach out. We are here to be a resource for you and your family.

Getting into a car accident can be a pretty jarring experience. It’s not the time you want to be figuring out how to proceed. While we hope you never need this information, we thought we’d share a few important tips in the event of an accident: ☑️ Do not admit fault. Don’t discuss the accident with anyone other than the police and your attorney. ☑️ Gather information. Get driver's license information, insurance policy information, license plate numbers, and names and contact information of the driver and witnesses. ☑️ Take photos. Take photos of the crash scene, the people and vehicles involved, and the license plates. ☑️ Never refuse medical treatment. You may not realize you're injured due to elevated adrenaline after a crash. If you're ever in a car accident, know that we’re here to help you through the aftermath.
