MSBC 10th Edition Latest Update The Board of Building Regulations and Standards (BBRS) held a special meeting on October 21, 2024 to discuss the concurrency period for the 9th and 10th Editions of the Massachusetts State Building Code (780 CMR). At the meeting the Board voted to extend the concurrency period to June 30, 2025, where projects can elect to file permits under either the 9th or 10th Editions. This extension will not be official until it is reviewed by various State departments and published by the Secretary of the Commonwealth's State Publications and Regulations Division. https://lnkd.in/eauieh_3

Wonderful to hear that our Williams College Museum of Art project is moving into the construction phase! As an architect I always love reading the design narrative…… A courtyard garden at the heart of the museum centers nature on the site, drawing daylight into the interior. Rather than a single monolithic structure, dispersed volumes gather around this central space. An exposed mass timber structure engages with the surrounding woodlands, echoed by wooden ceilings and flooring in galleries. Clerestory windows draw soft natural light into gallery spaces, while intentional break spaces between pavilions offer views to the outdoors, allowing for informal interactions with art and the natural world. *Congratulations to the Project Team! We are thrilled to have been part of the project team for this remarkable new addition to Kendall Square. In addition to the impressive nature of the building's sustainability and state-of-the-art lab facilities, the atrium design is truly stunning. It was a great challenge to help drive a code compliance path for that building feature, including performing the computer fire/smoke modeling to support the atrium smoke control design.
