There's a saying that strong men create easy times, easy times create weak men, and weak men create hard times—but for the Tatas, this couldn't be further from the truth. The mantle of greatness passed from Jamshedji to Dorabji, to JRD Tata, and then to Ratan Tata—each taking the brand to new, unimaginable heights.   Today, as we mourn the passing of Ratan Tata, we celebrate a legacy that will endure for generations. He will be remembered not just as a man who took the Tata brand to towering heights, but as a leader who brought humility into a space dominated by profits and competition. His personal touch was felt far and wide—whether meeting with the families of those impacted by the tragic 26/11 attacks on the Taj Hotel or supporting a mathematician in need by establishing a school of mathematics at TIFR and encouraging the development of supercomputer. These were not business moves—they were acts of humanity.   Even in the smallest gestures, Ratan Tata's compassion shone through. Whether it was the stray dog at the entrance of the Taj Hotel—left undisturbed out of respect for his kindness toward animals—or his insistence on using the same elevator as any other employee, refusing the grandeur and exclusivity typical of other business tycoons, Ratan Tata’s humility stood out. It was this simplicity and deep sense of empathy that made him truly unique.   Codetru pays tribute to this extraordinary man from India, whose influence and acceptance were felt across the globe.
