The ECMC recently wrapped up its Cumulative Impact rulemaking, and here’s a quote from our President and CEO, Dan Haley: “We appreciate the important work the Commission has undertaken in the Cumulative Impacts rulemaking and value our shared commitment for prioritizing the health, safety, and welfare of all Coloradans. However, while the new rule is a notable improvement from the original draft, the Commission continues to make it increasingly difficult for smaller oil and gas companies in Colorado to operate by, once again, adding endless obstacles in the permitting process instead of making determinations on a project-by-project basis as is done now. These enhanced standards and practices (ESPs) are cost prohibitive for small operators, and in some cases, offer relatively little environmental benefit. A blanket approach, without site-specific considerations, could create unintended, detrimental cumulative impacts to communities. These prescriptive regulations and mandates are pushed by a group of extreme environmental activists with the sole intention of banning the oil and natural gas industry in Colorado, rather than coming to the table to find solutions that will actually benefit the most vulnerable among us and bring down energy costs.” Read more about the rulemaking here: https://lnkd.in/gpJzX7eq
