  • During the month of September, Amentum (formerly Jacobs Engineering) participated in a food drive for the program Falcon Bags for Clear Lake High School. Communities in Schools works with “at risk” students who need support and guidance. Many students experience food insecurities due to homelessness or financial hardships. We want to thank the Science and Exploration Department for all the donations. Because of your generosity, many students will be provided with snacks and food for home.

  • Thank you to our partner Zeta Phi Beta Sorority for donating 32 gift cards for attendance incentives for the first and second semester of school! Your generosity helps encourage Hughes Road Elementary students to strive for excellent attendance. • In addition to the $11,927 raised through the H-E-B Back to School Supply Drive, Heidi Clark with H-E-B also delivered boxes upon boxes of school supplies leftover from H-E-B stores in the area. Not all students start the school year with the tools they need to succeed. This donation truly relieves the families we serve of a financial burden and allows students to focus on learning. Thank you, H-E-B!

  • Congratulations to our Barber Middle School September Attendance Star Winners! 🌟 One student from each homeroom that did not miss any days of school during the month of September were nominated to receive a goodie bag provided by CIS - Bay Area. We enjoyed celebrating our students' wins and look forward to continuing this initiative through the end of the school year.

  • It can be challenging being the new student on campus. Mrs. Long, CIS-BA Student Support Specialist at McWhirter Elementary, hosted a Welcome Picnic to help new students get acclimated to their new environment and peers. The students enjoyed getting to know each other while playing games and eating lunch.

  • Do you have 30 minutes once a week to invest in a student? At Communities In Schools-Bay Area we believe that relationships are the cornerstone of a student’s success. Our GROW Mentoring Program strategically matches community members with a student to be an added layer of support. Our GROW meetings kicked this year with a bang! We currently have 20 students who said yes to having a mentor and, in some cases, asked to be a part of the program. Will you be their yes? Click the link below to register for a training/information session to find out what GROW is all about. Join the Communities In Schools - Bay Area mentors, you’ll be so glad you did!
