Anyone can experience mental health challenges. This Mental Illness Awareness Week (Oct 6-12) is an opportunity to educate and bring awareness to the realities of mental illness. We can support each other when we normalize these conversations at work and at home. samhsa.gov/mental-health #MIAW

Yesterday one of our CFR Board members, Natasha Terrones, installed a 24/7 free Narcan dispenser in the lobby of the Ames Police Department. This is such a significant step toward equipping more people with Narcan, which can save a life in the case of an opioid overdose. We're so grateful for Tasha's tireless advocacy, as well as the support from Steps of Hope Iowa, The Lotus Foundation, and a Community Betterment grant from Prairie Meadows.

We're so appreciative of the public support of Recovery Month from our local Boards of Supervisors! The more we talk about recovery, the more we can break down the stigma associated with seeking help for mental health, substance use, or gambling disorders. Thank you to the Board of Supervisors in Story County, Webster County, Calhoun County, & Humboldt County.

During #RecoveryMonth we're honored to be able to share some of our staff members' personal recovery journeys. Everyone's experience might look a little different, but the key message is that recovery IS possible! Here is Megan's story - in her own words.
