The event was full of fantastic panels and networking…along with midday caviar, rooftop cigars;) An excellent industry event with great friends and partners. Logistics is all about different teams coming together in harmony. It requires a lot of trust and cooperation. It drives the global economy. I’m grateful to be able to get together with friends, colleagues, and even some competitors and connect over a few laughs and (more than a few) drinks. On most days we push one another and ourselves in the service of our clients and to maintain some level of control over the rushing current of global commerce. We still did plenty of that over the past two days, but by connecting with one another, we’re reminded of our shared purpose as stewards of international trade. The very trade that, among other things, feeds, shelters, defends, and clothes us all, but more importantly removes borders and fosters a sense of a greater collective global community. #logistics #trade

Beautiful fall day for a quick hop between our #JFK and #ORD offices!

ILA STRIKE SUSPENDED Dock workers are set to return under a tentative agreement between the ILA and USMX. While the deal still requires ILA ratification, it is expected to be finalized, and the Union has committed to resuming work on Friday, October 4th. However, the strike’s impact has caused a backlog that may take up to a month to resolve fully. Compass will continue to monitor the situation closely and work diligently to ensure that all shipments proceed smoothly.

Hopefully, the new agreement will provide dockworkers with a fair deal and proper protection while allowing the US to remain competitive. Let's get back to work!

Port Strike Update: Early reports indicate that the ILA and the USMX have reached an agreement. Stay tuned for confirmation.

PORT STRIKE UPDATE - 10/2: On the second day of the strike, little progress has been made. Some carriers have started declaring force majeure which may allow carriers to offer alternative places of delivery; suspend and store deliveries; or “abandon the carriage of the goods and place the goods at the merchant’s disposal at any place or port which the carrier may deem safe and convenient, whereupon the responsibility of the carrier in respect of such goods shall cease”. In such cases, legally, the voyage will be considered complete. It will be the beneficial cargo owners' responsibility to collect their Cargo from wherever the cargo is discharged at their own cost and redeliver it to their facility. #Logistics #Shipping #PortStrike #SupplyChain
