UK CAT approves $200 million settlement amount in collective claim by Walter Merricks CBE against Mastercard. After more than eight years of litigation, class representative Walter Merricks CBE settled its collective claim with Mastercard, which was the first certified opt-out class action claim in the UK. Compass Lexecon assisted Mr Merricks’ legal team. Lead expert Justin Coombs submitted expert reports and provided expert testimony on topics such as causation, acquirer pass-on, merchant pass-on and the facts and extent of pass-on. A federal judge ruled in favor of Compass Lexecon’s client Baker Hughes in granting its motion for summary judgment in an ERISA class action suit.
