Understanding Postpartum Health: My Journey to Wellness Ladies please do not ever try to stop peeing mid-stream! This sends contradictory signals to your brain about an essential bodily function. Just don’t do it! I will die on the hill of DO NOT STRENGTHEN WITH KEGELS! If you didn’t know then you didn’t know, but now you do know so stop the Kegels please! I say this to everyone, you need a SPECIALIST to evaluate you if you are having pelvic problems. Even in the POSTPARTUM period it is not necessarily that you are weak. You can still have tension and that tension is the source of your problems. The Balanced Method focuses on a full body approach. You are likely peeing, pooping & breathing incorrectly, plus have a dysfunctional posture even if you don’t look like the hunchback of Notre Dame. The reality is that therapy can focus on exercise & lifestyle management for majority of sessions once any internal tension and muscular coordination concerns have been addressed. Do not fear that someone will be “in your business” every single session, because that is simply not the case. I have worked with patients both virtually & in person without significant hands on work. Do I perform hands on work, yes, but is it for every single patient, no it is not! You should been comfortable with any treatment and if applicable I can teach a variety of self releases. The reality is everyone is unique and benefits from different approaches. Find a therapist that can pivot and work with you and your concerns.
