New on the blog! 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 #𝗔𝗖𝗔 & #𝗪𝗛𝗖𝗥𝗔 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 🚨 On October 21, 2024, new FAQs on the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the Women’s Health and Cancer Rights Act (WHCRA) were issued. These updates are critical for anyone overseeing group health plan compliance or managing employee benefits. 👇 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂: 👇 1️⃣ 𝗪𝗛𝗖𝗥𝗔 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲: The law requires group health plans to cover all stages of breast reconstruction following a mastectomy. This includes surgeries on both breasts (for symmetry), prostheses, and treatment of complications like lymphedema. 2️⃣ 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Ensure your employees know their rights! They may not be aware that these benefits are fully covered under WHCRA. Proactively providing this info builds trust and improves satisfaction. 3️⃣ 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗖𝗔: Recent updates require non-grandfathered plans to cover critical services like breast cancer screenings and PrEP without cost-sharing. 📣 New task alert! 📣 The Paid Leave for All Workers Act (PLAWA)  allows workers to earn up to 40 hours of paid leave from work in a 12 month period. If an employee takes leave under the PLAWA, the employer must continue to provide any health plan coverage for the employee and the employee's family that the employee already had during the duration of the paid leave time.
