Belzona recently highlighted a composite wrap system designed for aqueous environments. The surface-tolerant epoxy resin is called Belzona 1984. The Gardner Business Index (GBI) by Gardner Intelligence is an indicator of the current state of composites fabricating considering survey responses regarding new orders, production, backlog, employment, exports and supplier deliveries. The October GBI shows the composites fabrication market contracted in October slightly from the previous month, but individual data points — including new orders, production, prices received and future business outlook — improved (were more positive). Let's talk REBAR! Corrosion of steel rebar is a leading cause of the deterioration of concrete structures. The service life of concrete reinforced with steel rebar is limited to around 25 years, rather than the 75-100 years once estimated. Worldwide, concrete structures are pushed to the limits like never before. Not only has traffic increased on roads, bridges and overpasses, but extreme weather events have increased, including violent storms and torrential rains that result in flash floods. Under such stress, concrete can crack. This allows rapid deterioration in aggressive environments through exposure to elements such as saltwater, which is corrosive to steel rebar. NATILUS is challenging the Boeing-Airbus Aircraft duopoly. CW recently interviewed Natilus CEO Aleksey Matyushev.
