The trailers are gone, the building is occupied, the ribbon is cut…it’s official! We celebrated the ribbon cutting for the University of West Georgia’s Humanities Building renovation and construction of a central plant. This completed project is a true testament to how transformative a renovation can be as the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia is continuing to look at revitalization of existing buildings as a solution to higher education needs. This 1970s building, formerly (somewhat affectionately) referred to as a concrete bunker, has truly become an amazing place to gather, inciting creativity in the minds of the students that visit. . . Our team was thrilled to be part of the groundbreaking ceremony for Douglasville's new Recycling Center! On any project, it is so important to take time to remind ourselves how far we’ve come. Topping out ceremonies are a perfect milestone for this reflection. They are also an opportunity to show our gratitude to the countless onsite workers who come to the jobsite every day and turn vision into reality. We had the opportunity to celebrate such an occasion last week for the Hyundai Mobility Training Center where the final beam was placed on the structure. Remarks were heard from Scott McMurray, Deputy Commissioner for Georgia Quick Start, Greg Dozier, TCSG Commissioner, as well as Oscar Kwon, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America. PROJECT SPOTLIGHT: Douglasville Town Green and GreyStone Amphitheater Completed in 2023 for the City of Douglasville, GA, this project includes an open-air concert venue and park space in downtown Douglasville. The 3,700-person amphitheater debuted to a sold-out crowd with a concert featuring Gladys Knight last fall. A concessions building with a rooftop event space provides views of the stage for concerts. As part of the project, the existing bridge over Church Street was redeveloped to provide an additional event space. The park space adjacent to the amphitheater includes a playground with playable structures, a climbing area, and a splash pad. This project truly created a cultural, civic, and entertainment center for Douglasville right in the heart of downtown and will serve the surrounding community, including a future mixed-use development that will surround the park. . .
