Thank you for all the support with the Compton Unified School District!
Exciting milestone reached with over 1000 esports training sessions delivered in schools across the US and Australia through our platform at Valor Esports... We had the idea of building esports training program specific to schools in March when we ran an amazing esports coaching session organized by Alvaro Brito for teaches within the COMPTON UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT. Since then, we have onboarded many schools and built game training programs which are specifically designed to be used by their esports teams. We are really grateful to be able to bring such an impact to the new generation of esports athletes and to be supported by other amazing organizations such as Generation Esports and The FUSE Cup - International School Esports.

Last night, CUSD welcomed its new 2024-25 Student Board Members at the regular Meeting of the Board of Trustees. The four new Student Board Members are Denise Atkins from Centennial High School; Brooklyn Adams representing Compton Early College High School; MyShay Causey from Compton High School; and Samantha Garcia, a Dominguez High School scholar. Each year, Compton Unified selects Student Board Members to be representatives on the Board of Trustees. In their role, each of the scholars will attend the monthly School Board Meetings. These four seniors will present the Student Board Member Report, discussing what’s taking place at each of the four high schools each month. In addition, they will learn more about how the Compton Unified School District is run and the crucial role that the Board of Trustees plays in managing the school district. Congratulations to the four new CUSD Student Board Members! #StudentBoardMembers #schoolboard #boardoftrustees #ComptonUnified #Elevate

Last week, Compton High School was honored to have Randy Savvy—artist, musician, businessman, and proud Compton Cowboys℠—give a stellar guest lecture to Mr. Jones’ Audio Production Class! 🎤Randy shared valuable insights with the scholars on what it takes to succeed as a musical artist, from the six key people you need on your team, to how your phone can be your greatest tool. 📱 Randy also emphasized the importance of always being prepared for opportunities. He listened to scholars music, made up some songs on the spot in a fun, impromptu jam session, and encouraged students to embrace their unique, passionate selves! #Mentors #GuestSpeakers #ComptonCowboys #RandySavvy #ComptonUnified #elevate

🔥Guest speakers are always a welcomed addition to any high school class. 🎥Award-Winning Director and Producer Wesley "Wuz Good" Armstrong visited Compton High School recently and spoke to Mr. Jones’ Audio Production class about his job and his creative process. As part of the visit, he showed the class his newest film, Vigilante, which is currently being screened at film festivals. 🎬He brought along the main actors from the film including Khleo Thomas (Holes, Friday After Next, Walking Tall), Maestro Harrell (The Wire, Fear the Walking Dead, Teen Titans GO! To the Movies), Jaden Martin (After Earth, Root of All Evil), and Tim Kennedy (NCIS, New Jack Fury), who also spoke to the class about their jobs as actors. During Wesley’s talk, he talked about making a film starts with photos, as 1 second of film is 24 frames of photos. He led the class in a thought-provoking exercise where they got in groups and took 6 photos to tell a story. Then they showed the photos to Wesley and he tried to tell their story from the photos. As part of his class, Wesley encouraged the class to be creative, stay motivated, meet as many people as they can, and attach themselves to people who are doing better than they are. He and the actors then stayed after and answered individual questions from the Compton scholars until the last one left. Wesley has more than 17 years of film and entertainment experience. He has directed multi-award-winning film festival shorts, over $4 million of branded entertainment for companies such as Lyft and T-Mobile, and has amassed 3 million social media followers along the way, being named a "game-changing influencer" by Bloomberg Magazine. #reallifelearning #mentors #mentorship #speakerseries #filmmaking #directing #producing #ComptonUnified #Elevate

Today, CUSD’s BSA Department hosted scholars from Emerson, Kelly, Kennedy, King, Jefferson, Tibby, and Washington Elementary Schools to experience an interactive workshop from Cabrillo Marine Aquarium exploring a tide pool and its creatures. Entitled, "The Greatest Fish Story Ever Told, Treasures in the Tidepool,” scholars had a wonderful experience learning about sea animals and their habitat. Students touched the animals in a large fish tank and got to look at different shells and remains of other sea creatures. In addition, they toured the CUSD District offices, met Superintendent Dr. Darin Brawley, and learned more about what the staff does to help run CUSD. #CabrilloMarineAquarium #Aquarium #tidepools #seacreatures #comptonunified #elevate

This week, Compton Unified’s award-winning 21 Elementary Schools and 5 Middle Schools welcomed students and their families to Back-to-School Nights. Families got to tour our incredible campuses and look inside the colorful classrooms! Our inspiring principals, teachers, and staff met with parents and families, and shared what scholars will experience this year in the school and classroom. Back to School Nights are crucial events in the academic calendar, serving as a bridge between schools, parents, and teachers. For our Compton Unified schools, these nights provide an opportunity to establish a sense of community and shared purpose. Administrators outlined the school’s goals, values, and expectations for the academic year to parents and families. Schools also showcased their resources, programs, and extracurricular activities, fostering an environment where students feel supported and parents feel confident in the excellent educational experience their children are receiving. For our CUSD parents, Back to School Night is an invaluable opportunity to connect with their child’s teachers and gain insights into the curriculum and classroom expectations. They had the opportunity to ask questions, understand grading policies, and learn about any upcoming projects or assessments. This helped parents to better support their children’s learning at home by aligning their expectations with those of the school. #Backtoschool #BacktoSchoolNight #MeetYourTeachers #Seeyourchildrensschool #awardwinningschools #ComptonUnified #elevate
