They learned about the company behind League of Legends and Valorant, met inspiring Riot Games employees, and got firsthand insights into career paths for coders, engineers, producers, and artists in the gaming industry. 🎉 The highlight? Touring the League of Legends arena—an experience that left everyone in awe! Schools are a big part of any local community, so when local events happen, it's amazing when those schools can get involved. Today, the world-famous Compton High School Marching Band and Attached Units were a part of a big civic celebration in the City of Compton and kicked off the Artesia Bridge Grand Re-Opening today! 🎉🎺 After four years of closure, the City of Compton reopened the bridge with an exciting event at the corner of E. Artesia Blvd. and Santa Fe Avenue. 🎓✨ 80 CUSD Scholars Become “USC Students for a Day”! ✨🎓 More than 80 scholars from Emerson, Kelly, King, McNair, Tibby, and Washington Elementary Schools and Whaley Middle School experienced a day in the life of a college student at the University of Southern California! Thanks to the partnership between CUSD’s Black Student Achievement Department and USC, our young scholars embarked on an unforgettable college immersion day. 🗺️ Kicking off with a self-guided campus tour, students explored iconic campus sites, building confidence and imagining their future at a university. 🏟️ The day wrapped up at L.A. Memorial Coliseum where students met the USC football team and the renowned Trojan Marching Band, who shared inspiring stories of dedication and perseverance. 🏈 The scholars then watched the USC vs. Rutgers football game and cheered the Trojans to victory! Compton Unified Seniors Visit USC! Recently, 75 seniors from Centennial, Compton High School, Compton Early College High School, and Dominguez High School toured the University of Southern California through the Black College Success (BCS) initiative! 🎓 This powerful collaboration with USC Rossier School of Education is part of a larger effort to tackle systemic barriers faced by Black students and build a sustainable model for academic achievement. 💡✨ From writing workshops to financial aid guidance, college access managers were there every step of the way to support our students on their journey to higher education! 🌟 Special thanks to USC undergrad volunteers for the amazing campus tours! 🙌🏽 #College #CollegeTours #USC #StudentSuccess #ComptonUnified #Elevate

💫 24 Compton High School and Compton Early College High School scholars recently attended the "Empower Her" Young Women’s Health Conference in Carson, CA, thanks to CUSD’s Department of Black Student Achievement! 💪🏽✨ Hosted by the Honorable Adrienne D. Konigar-Macklin, the event equipped young women with tools for success in topics like Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy, Self-Care, Self-Esteem, and AI in Healthcare. 🧠💼 Students enjoyed impactful sessions, interactive workshops, and even left with gift bags filled with self-care products! 🚀 Carver Elementary 6th grade scholars had an unforgettable experience touring TikTok’s HQ in Culver City! 🙌 These 23 bright students explored TikTok's meeting rooms, soundproof workspaces, green rooms, and even participated in a hands-on 9 Dots challenge where they recreated the TikTok logo. They wrapped up the day with TikTok swag! Bria’s message to scholars? Believe in yourself and stay focused on your goals.
