Last week we had the opportunity to attend an Electric Vehicle Industry Collaboration at Heartland Community College hosted by the Illinois Green Economy Network. Our Managing Director, David Braun, and Deputy Managing Director, Brady Lange, served on an electric vehicle employer panel alongside several other employers in the area. Topics included the number of qualified technicians, potential work force development opportunities for current employees, and the struggle with the current talent pipeline. A future partnership between Heartland Community College and Connect Transit was discussed in detail. Afterwards, we hosted two tours for individuals attending the event at our facility. We showcased our electric vehicle infrastructure and discussed the challenges and successes that electric vehicles present to our community. ⚡️⚡️

Last week David Braun, General Manager, and Ryan Whitehouse, Board of Trustees Chairman, attended the Annual One Voice trip with the Bloomington-Normal Economic Development Council as a partner with Heartland Community College. Heartland is hoping to develop a regional, medium and heavy-duty electric vehicle technician training lab that would be built alongside our upcoming facility developments.

Earlier this week our Board of Trustees Chairman, General Manager, and Procurement Director attended the American Public Transportation Association Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. Ryan, David, and Brady enjoyed their time in our nation’s capitol and had great conversations with our elected officials. Thank you APTA for a great conference!
