Congratulations to Alma V. Peralta, MBA of the City of Tucson Office of Economic Initiatives for winning an Arizona Association for Economic Development Golden Prospector Award for the Academy of International Trade. The Golden Prospector Awards were established more than 20 years ago to recognize excellence in economic development and were presented at AAED's annual Fall Forum held last week in Prescott, Arizona. The Academy of International Trade is an event series designed for small and medium-sized businesses in north Mexico interested in expanding their international operations. Tucson hosted eight workshops for 40 investors representing 35 companies, kicking off in Nogales, Sonora in the fall of 2023 and ending with a graduation in January, 2024.

CITY OF TUCSON AWARDED GRANT TO PROVIDE FREE FINANCIAL COUNSELING TO WORKING FAMILIES - The City of Tucson Office of Economic Initiatives recently was accepted as a Planning Grantee in the national Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund’s (CFE) Academy. Across the country, approximately 30 municipal Financial Empowerment Centers (FEC) offer professional, one-on-one financial counseling and coaching as a free public service to residents. The FEC Academy is a 15-month long process to work toward the launch of a FEC initiative. Professionally trained FEC counselors play an important role in helping individuals and families with low and moderate incomes manage their finances, pay down debt, increase savings, establish and build credit, and access safe and affordable mainstream banking products. The award includes a $20,000 planning grant and intensive CFE Fund technical assistance. Partners who complete the academy are eligible to apply for up to $150,000 in matching funds for program implementation from the CFE Fund. https://lnkd.in/gj_N2dQj #Counseling #Free #Awarded #Financial #Community #Planning
