National Coming Out Day was a memorable occasion for the EmblemHealth family of companies*, thanks to PRISM, our employee resource group for LGBTQ+ members and allies. PRISM hosted an inspiring panel, "Be Proud. Be Brave. Be You" where panelists shared their powerful coming out stories, along with invaluable resources and support for those exploring their own coming out experience. Together in collaboration with our employee resource groups, we continue to foster a workplace where everyone can feel comfortable bringing their authentic selves to work. #nationalcomingoutday #dei *ConnectiCare is part of the EmblemHealth family of companies.

Imagine going to the same office for years, seeing the same doctor, having the same follow-up appointment, and being hit with a bill for a facility fee because the physician office is know considered part of the hospital's outpatient facility but is miles away. Another example of healthcare is becoming unaffordable and unsustainable while inviting regulation to curb these revenue generating schemes.

Our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) play a vital role in promoting diversity and inclusion within our organization. These groups foster advocacy, allyship, and equity, providing employees with a platform to share their voices and cultivate a sense of belonging. ERGs are instrumental in supporting our mission by: 1. Creating a Strong Internal Culture: ERGs help build an environment where every employee feels valued and included, contributing to higher employee satisfaction and retention. 2. Enhancing Professional Development: By offering networking opportunities and fostering mentorship, ERGs empower employees to advance their careers within the company. 3. Driving Innovation: Diverse perspectives lead to innovative solutions. ERGs enable employees to bring their unique insights and experiences to the table, enhancing creativity and problem-solving. 4. Improving Business Outcomes: ERGs contribute to a positive company reputation, attracting top talent and fostering customer loyalty through our commitment to diversity and inclusion. In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, we spotlight our Hispanic/Latinx ERG, Presente. Presente is dedicated to enhancing the visibility and inclusion of Hispanic/Latinx employees through networking, discussions on impactful topics, and volunteer support. This ERG also provides a space for us to honor and celebrate our rich cultural heritage as a united familia. Fanny Greene, Provider Relationship manager and Presente member, has experienced the profound impact an ERG can have on the experience of its members: “I had the privilege of leading the Presente ERG from 2020 to 2023, and it was an incredibly fulfilling experience. It helped me become more confident in speaking to large groups, and I developed a range of new skills along the way. I also had the chance to meet amazing individuals, listen to their unique stories, and highlight their contributions as part of our community-building efforts.” By investing time and energy in ERGs, together we can continue to build a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone thrives. *ConnectiCare is part of the EmblemHealth family of companies.

As Connecticut's local health plan, we are deeply committed to giving back to our communities. This year, we had the pleasure of participating in the 4th Annual Golden Scoop, an initiative organized by Connecticut Foodshare to combat hunger within our state. Our spirited team of 20 employees, led by ConnectiCare President Mark Meador, rolled up their sleeves and dove into the pasta scooping and packaging challenge. The result? Over 550 bags of pasta packed with dedication and love, equaling 55 boxes at 20 pounds each. While we didn't take home the championship title this year, the true victory lies in knowing that our efforts will help ensure families across Connecticut have food on their tables. Our thanks to Connecticut Foodshare for hosting, and to our amazing team for their hard work and enthusiasm. Together, we are making a difference, one scoop at a time!
