Did you know #CT has seen an estimated $90.5 billion in total missed economic growth since 2007 and nearly $5.5 billion in missed tax revenue in 2023 compared to if the state’s economic growth had kept pace with the U.S.? This missed revenue = missed investments into policies and programs that could advance public good and economic well-being. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eeUk2f7K #PoliciesForThePeople #EconomicJustice

There is a close relationship between job growth and personal income growth. So, it's no surprise that much like #CT's job growth, personal income growth has lagged behind the growth of the U.S. as a whole. To be clear, whether or not residents experience a growth in personal income is a policy choice. We can make Connecticut a leader (rather than a lagger) in personal income growth as well as job growth if our elected officials have the political will and we the people work for change, together. As the Surgeon General announced in a recent advisory, the well-being of parents and caregivers is a critical and underappreciated public health priority. A child tax credit, paid leave, affordable childcare, and mental health resources are essential to helping parents and caregivers thrive. It’s past time to shift how we value the vital work of raising children, ensuring parents aren’t struggling in silence: https://lnkd.in/gHQ33PB8 #PoliciesForThePeople #HighQualityAffordableChildCare #ChildCareForAll

#CT's economy cannot thrive when so many families are being left behind. By addressing critical labor market issues and reforming our regressive tax system, the state has the opportunity to boost job growth, reduce wage inequality and wage gaps, and improve economic security. #SOWC report available at ctvoices.org Article at: https://lnkd.in/e6yBQ842

Why is job growth so critical? For most families in #CT, especially low- and middle-income families, wages and salaries are the primary source of income. #Jobs are also important because job growth significantly impacts personal income growth and gross domestic product growth, which are essential for increasing the state’s ability both to make critical public investments and to make the tax system that funds those investments less regressive. Despite its critical importance, CT's job growth continues to lag behind the U.S. as a whole. What can our state do about it? Check out our #SOWC report at https://lnkd.in/eeUk2f7K
