Connico President Sri Kumar and Achieve More LLC CEO Mariama Boney, LMSW, CAE, CPEC recently presented at #NSPECon24 for a session titled “From Blueprint to Boss: Evolving as Engineers into Transformational Leaders.” They shared insights on EOS™ methods and tools, team assessments on cohesive behaviors, and authentic dialogue to meet the challenges and triumphs along the journey of becoming visionary bosses and leaders. Check out a few takeaways from their presentation below!
I recently had the pleasure of presenting with Mariama Boney, LMSW, CAE, CPEC, CEO of Achieve More LLC, at #NSPECon24 on the challenges and triumphs of the journey from blueprint creators to visionary team leaders. Our session was both engaging and insightful for everyone involved (including myself!). Here are three key takeaways that resonated with me: 1. Despite a smaller audience of around 20 people and competing with popular sessions like one on AI, our group was highly engaged. I highlighted that while AI is the buzzword now, in five years, it will be those who excel at managing people who truly stand out in business. 2. Presenting just three years after Connico president Connie Gowder’s passing was particularly meaningful. It gave me the chance to reflect on and share Connico’s rich history and the powerful legacy Connie left behind, reinforcing the importance of continuing her vision by inspiring and empowering new leaders. 3. We had an in-depth discussion on the importance of building team trust and providing clarity, using models like the Five Behaviors and the EOS Model. The audience’s insightful questions and contributions highlighted the critical need for leaders to cultivate trust, provide clear direction, and lead with positivity and strategic intent.

We had an absolute blast last week hosting the Airport Consultants Council (ACC) Young Professionals Regional Meet-Up at Pins Mechanical Co. in Cincinnati, Ohio! 🎳 The evening was filled with lively conversations, friendly competition in duckpin bowling, and plenty of arcade fun. It was great to connect with fellow aviation construction and engineering professionals from the Cincinnati area over delicious food and shared experiences. At Connico, we’re committed to investing in the next generation of industry leaders, and this event was a perfect reminder of the power of networking and community. Big thank you to Caleb Claxton, EIT and ACC for organizing - we look forward to supporting more nights like this!

Who says all the best action happens during the day? 🌙 At Connico, we know some of the most impactful work often starts after dark—especially on the airfield! In the latest “From the President’s Desk” piece, our president, Sri Kumar, alongside senior project manager at Kimley-Horn, Jerry Haliw, shares an eye-opening look at the realities faced by Resident Project Representatives (RPRs) during overnight runway closures. Check out the blog to learn more about the teamwork and resilience that keep our airports running smoothly, even in the toughest conditions.
There’s nothing quite like a takeout sushi meal in the front seat of your car during a massive thunderstorm! That might not be everyone’s first choice at dinner, but for many Resident Project Representatives (RPRs) and other onsite airfield and airport employees, this is commonplace. Oftentimes, they have to brave the elements on a stormy night, using their cars as desks, command centers, and dining tables while making sure an airfield is ready for the next day’s flights. 🌧️ In my latest “From the President’s Desk” blog, I dive into the gritty reality of airfield projects, highlighting the dedication and teamwork that keep our airports running smoothly. And, my friend Jerry Haliw, Senior Project Manager at Kimley-Horn, partnered with me on this piece to share insights on the resilience required to face the unexpected, from sudden storms to last-minute lighting issues, and shine a spotlight on the often-invisible role of the aviation industry. Discover more about the hard work that goes on during the night so that you can travel with ease. Check out the full blog below!
