Members of Children First’s Comprehensive Services Team had an amazing experience attending the Conscious Discipline: Birth to Five conference in Orlando! The event focused on empowering educators and parents to create positive, connected learning environments for children during their most critical developmental years. "We explored how to stay calm and manage emotions, which helps us create positive, supportive learning environments," shared Arianne Kopacz, LMHC, Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist. “By using brain science, we can implement strategies that ensure every child feels welcomed and supported in the classroom and beyond.” The team returned inspired and ready to implement these powerful tools to strengthen classroom communities and provide individualized support where it’s needed most. #ConsciousDiscipline #EarlyChildhood #BuildingConnections #PositiveLearning #ChildrenFirst

We tend to default to the negative perception that a child is bad, stubborn, disrespectful, or intentionally pushing our buttons. Instead, we want to use the Power of Perception to consciously offer a perception to others that will be helpful instead of hurtful. This is not “letting them off the hook.” The goal is to see others in a positive light so we can access the higher centers of our brain, giving us the power of choice and the ability to behave and model in a healthy manner. Without this change in perception, we will model the exact same behaviors we are trying to eliminate in children. 💙 Continue learning more about the Power of Perception here: https://lnkd.in/gCBBAPbG
