Cultivating Inner Capacities for Regenerative Food Systems

About us

The Conscious Food Systems Alliance (CoFSA), convened by UNDP, is a movement of food, agriculture, and consciousness practitioners united around a common goal: to support people from across food and agriculture systems to cultivate the inner capacities that activate systemic change and regeneration. It aims at establishing the cultivation of inner capacities as a key evidence-based approach to envision and create regenerative food systems, while building legitimacy and understanding for this approach. CoFSA does this by: - Convening a Community of Practice and Learning: CoFSA brings together an intentional community of peers, supported by a collaborative digital platform, where individuals and organizations can connect, learn and exchange knowledge, support and inspire each other, and collaborate to build conscious food systems. - Pioneering the application of consciousness approaches and practices: across food systems, through a global portfolio of interventions, including the delivery of trainings, coaching and facilitation services, supported by research and learning frameworks.

  • 🙌 Today, we present the first intervention area - Farmers' wellbeing and psychological resilience - of CoFSA's Case Studies Collection which showcases the application of consciousness practices and approaches that have the potential to unlock food systems’ transformation.     Farmers are at the heart of our food systems, yet the struggles and hardships they face are often invisible. These 6 case studies shine a light on how introducing contemplative practices and community support alongside sustainable farming techniques enhances farmers’ wellbeing and resilience, while also contributing to a more healthy, equitable, and sustainable food system.    CoFSA is exploring how we can collectively support farmers’ wellbeing and psychological resilience. • for this #WorldFoodDay, we are also grateful for the work of our partner Compassion in World Farming, including for this book they edited and to which we contributed a chapter on CoFSA

Today is #WorldFoodDay, this year focusing on the ‘Right to foods for a better life and better future’, a day to reflect on our broken food system and the urgent need to transform it. 733 million people face hunger globally, yet in many countries, over-consumption of intensively farmed animal-sourced foods is leading to an over-reliance on high-calorie, nutrient-poor foods, contributing to obesity and chronic diseases. Our recently published book, ‘Regenerative Farming & Sustainable Diets’ explores the potential of dietary shift and a move away from industrial animal agriculture in creating a future food system that benefits all.
