We're looking at Sarracenia species 😍 Florida's wetlands are home to more species of carnivorous plants than anywhere else in the U.S., but these carnivorous cuties face threats. Less than 3% of the original Sarracenia habitat along the Gulf Coastal Plain remains — countless acres have been lost to development. It's up to us to protect paradise ☀️ because it's not just 𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 — it's 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓𝒔, too. (Also don't be a plant poacher, please!) 📸: @lilliumbyrd

A Seminole County stunner if we ever saw one. I mean, look at those knees! (We're talkin' bout the roots!) Botanists have long wondered what they're for — so if you've ever scratched your head in confusion, you're not alone 🤔 It's been theorized that cypress knees assist in structure stabilization & oxygen absorption (though this one is questionable). 📸: @ank_hrz
