Associated Builders and Contractors of Greater Houston (ABC) / Construction and Maintenance Education Foundation (CMEF) hosted Zeke Smith of Apache Industrial last week to provide a session on Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention. Craft Persons in the Craft Training program were attentive and open to Zeke’s message amid growing mental health concerns in the construction industry. Suicide ranks second highest among major industries. ABC/CMEF also grilled for those who choose to attend.

Julian Velasquez, one of our medalists this year at the ABC National Craft Championship, stopped by to pick up one of his prizes today. Julian is a senior at Dr. Kirk Lewis Career and Technical Highschool in Pasadena, TX. His plan is to continue welding after graduation and start working with his dad! Way to go, Julian!
