    Is your resume is being screened by ATS and you get auto rejected? Well, I answered NO to this question many times, but seems like things might be changing with the AI age and its involvement in hiring processes. Below is a text that explains that your resume is being screened by the ATS and given a relevance score which will most probably create a bias, even even worse, result with an auto rejection. Which ATS? ADP You can see their detailed explanation on the attached file. And below is the text you receive during the appication: "This employer may use an artificial intelligence algorithm to provide an initial comparison of an applicant’s education, experience, and skills against the education, experience and skill requirements in the job description. This analysis produces a Profile Relevancy score, which is intended to be one of many factors that a potential employer will review in making its interview decisions; there are no cut off scores and all applications are visible to employers. Read more about how these tools collect, store, and retain information and the results of the most recent impartial evaluations. The Profile Relevancy score for applicants who opt out will be listed as “Not Available.” I wonder if your resume will be even reviewed if you opt out. But as many of you do that, those jobs are getting huge amount of applications, where for you, standing out almost becomes impossible. What else can you do? Simple 👇 Apply anyway, but take one step further by checking the careers page of that company and see the other open roles. You might even find a better position for you to apply. With this advice in mind, I created hidden-jobs.com. Currently there are only 3000+ open positions, but adding more and more companies every day.     What do you think about case studies (aka. take home assessments) in the hiring process? This is a very common use case in recruitment, but there is a catch. I have seen many companies using them in a very wrong way, here are some👇 🚫 Using a real problem, asking candidates to solve ( free work) 🚫 Sending case study right after application, without even talking to the candidates 🚫 Preparing case studies that would take 5-10 hours of candidates' time. 🚫 Not giving any feedback after a case study submission, leaving the candidates with a generic rejection email 🚫 Poorly setup case studies that are lacking context, hard to understand what the ask is On the other hand, resume is just a paper and does not justifies your ability to do the work. Therefore, case studies are a great way to measure the abilities. I have been using case studies in my hiring process and I find them very beneficial if used correctly. Here are a few rules I came up with: ✅ Use a situation from lessons learned, and prepare it with idiot proof context ✅ Do it yourself first as a hiring manager, and make sure the time spend does not exceed 30 mins, so that candidates can actually complete it within 2 hours. ✅ Ask candidates to work on a case study only after you had an initial call, and communicate clearly the purpose of this step. ✅ Give feedback for each case study you receive, even if it is a rejection. ✅ In the next interview, always include time to discuss the case study submission While many companies are using case studies, only a few of them pay attention to do it right. I will go first - Clipboard Health is one of the bad examples, asking to work on a 5-10 hours case without any human interaction, and leaving you with no feedback, just a generic rejection email)
