  • Big congratulations to Brian Swiatek for conquering the Chicago Marathon! From the challenging distance to the cheering crowds, Brian shows what it means come together as a team and persevere. We’re #CECCoProud to have his leadership! #TeamCECCo #ChicagoMarathon Learn more about Brian’s dedication to running and how his family came together to honor a special someone who couldn’t be here: 1.     How many years have you been running? I have been running for +/- 30 years 2.     How did you get started running? My wife, Kelly, is a great runner and got me into it when we first got married. She is my rock and my best friend.  3.     What is your motivation to do the marathon this year? This year, my niece and her fiancé, my two nephews, and their uncle wanted to run the marathon in honor of their Father/Brother who passed away from a 9-year courageous battle with cancer in 2022. Kelly and I wanted to support them and make sure we got them down a good path with training, equipment, etc. We had 6 people in the family train for 3 months and all finished. I also ran for a charity called Mutts of the Midway and raised $3,222 for this worthy group that deals with finding foster homes for dogs.  4.     What would you recommend to someone if they are just starting out running? No matter how short the distance, get out and run. We tell our kids and this group that a happy body leads to a happy mind, and they have all agreed with us. 5.     What is your first cheat meal that you will have post-marathon? I originally wanted White Castles but had to forego that based on how I felt Sunday. I did not think they would stay down. But they are in my future this week. I settled for Sushi and a couple glasses of wine.

  • Rigoberto Corcoles has gone the distance—literally! This past weekend, Rigo completed the Chicago Marathon, showing incredible resilience and dedication. His accomplishment is a testament to what’s possible when you push past limits. Let’s give him a well-deserved round of applause! #CECCoProud #TeamCECCo Running wasn’t always part of Rigo’s routine, but there is no turning back! Up next, the NYC Marathon! Learn more about Rigo’s journey: 1.     How many years have you been running? Running for 5 years. 2.     How did you get started running? In 2020, a Microsoft job site in Iowa had fitness challenges and so I signed up! A part of the monthly challenge was running certain distances every couple days. It was tough at first but slowly started to enjoy it. In 2022, I ran my first 15K race and last year was my first marathon. 3.     What is your motivation to do the marathon this year? My motivation is to match or beat my time from last year. Also to enjoy the race as it'll be good training for Nov 3 when I'll be running the NYC Marathon! 4.     What would you recommend to someone if they are just starting out running? Don't compare yourself to others. Don't give up! There will be days when you love it but days when you HATE it, it’s all part of the journey. Running slow will help you to run faster, trust the process. 5. What is your first cheat meal that you will have post-marathon? Gyro Dinner from Nicky's!

  • #CECCoProud of Hugh Doyle who crossed the finish line of the Chicago Marathon this weekend! Months of dedication, training sessions, and grit paid off with an incredible 26.2-mile achievement. Let’s celebrate Hugh’s strength and commitment! We will be celebrating the achievements of others this week too, so stay tuned! Go #TeamCECCo! #ChicagoMarathon Every step tells a story, here is a glimpse into Hugh’s background: How many years have you been running? 30+ How did you get started running? I signed up for a few 5ks, ½ marathons, sprint triathlons, and it evolved from there. I never wanted to do a marathon until last year when I said I would sign up for the marathon lottery to see what happens, and here we are. What is your motivation to do the marathon this year? Run under 4 hours or be able to run consistently for the entire race. Last year was 4:08 and had to walk a little once I got to 20 miles. What would you recommend to someone if they are just starting out running? Take things slow and listen to your body. What is your first cheat meal that you will have post-marathon? Taco Bell or White castles. Maybe even a couple Michelob Ultra golds!
