Happy World Occupational Therapy Day! The theme for this year is, “Occupational Therapy for All.” The theme reflects the important role of the profession in facilitating the ability of individuals, communities, and populations to participate in the activities that they want, need, or are expected to do in their daily lives. Occupational therapy is a vital part of hospice. This form of therapy is used to help those recovering from physical or mental illnesses. We work to encourage rehabilitation to help with certain activities that are necessary for daily life. OTs play a crucial role in the hospice care team. They help identify significant life roles and activities that provide some meaning to patients. They’ll talk to the patient to find out what they want to accomplish and what’s most important to them. They also consider the available support systems and resources they may have to achieve those goals. Thank you, Occupational Therapist, for all the hard work that you do each day!

This week we want to take the time to celebrate and educate you for Spiritual Care Week! Spiritual care can be a wide range of different cultures and religions. The theme this year is “Chaplains Beyond Religious Roles.” These colleagues wear so many different hats and our team would be incomplete without our Chaplains. Today we want to remind you to schedule your mammograms. Did you know that a mammogram can often detect a problem before there is any outward physical sign? All women over 40 years old are recommended to have a mammogram yearly for preventative measures. #EarlyDetectionSavesLives #PreventativeCare #WomenHealth #KnowYourRisk #ScheduleYourMammogram #BreastCancerAwareness #ScreeningSavesLives

Continuum Hospice is dedicated to offering support, education, guidance, and resources for patients receiving hospice and palliative care, as well as their families and the broader community. In 2024, we are celebrating a decade since the World Health Assembly (WHO's Governing Body) adopted its unique resolution on palliative care. This resolution urged all nations to enhance palliative care services as part of holistic care across all stages of life. We share with you some comparisons between Hospice and Palliative care: - Hospice is for terminal patients with 6 months or less to live. - Palliative care is for any stage of serious illness, alongside curative treatments. - Both focus on comfort, pain management, and quality of life. - Hospice care is often at home; palliative care can be in hospitals or clinics. - Both involve a multidisciplinary care team. - Hospice is covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and most insurance plans; palliative care varies. #WHPCDay24 #10YearsOn #Hospice #PalliativeCare
