A pentester walks into a bar and orders a "1 beer", "1000 beers", "-1 beers", "beer OR TRUE". Nothing bad happens. A #SAST tool walks in the bar and "finds" a way for a customer to open the cash registers. After spending a week of investigation, the bar concludes the "finding" was a false positive and while they were distracted, someone snuck in an stole a case of beer. A customer walks into the bar bathroom, does their business, and flushes the toilet. The cash registers fly open and the CO2 tank explodes. No matter how hard you try, pre-prod testing is not reality... and it's costly. Customer use in prod is reality... and free. What if your "testing" were cheaper, much more accurate, and even more secure but done in prod using customer input? Nobody does load and performance testing in pre-prod anymore. #APM successfully moved that to prod. The future of Application Security Testing (#AST) is also in prod! According to the World Economic Forum's 2024 Global Risks Report, "Cyber insecurity" is FOURTH on the list of global risks ranked by severity.
