Convergent Science is a global leader in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software.
About us
Convergent Science, founded in 1997, is a global leader in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software. The Convergent Science World Headquarters is located in Madison, WI with additional locations in New Braunfels and Houston, Texas, Northville, Michigan, Linz, Austria, and Pune, India. Its flagship product, CONVERGE, is revolutionizing the CFD industry. The groundbreaking technology removes the user defined mesh and implements an innovative new process that fully couples the automated mesh with the solver at runtime. This process combined with Adaptive Mesh Refinement (AMR) is shifting the paradigm toward predictive CFD. To learn more please visit convergecfd.com.

Sprays and combustion are key processes in many critical technologies in the energy and transportation industries. Professor Noah Van Dam’s Multi-Phase and Reacting Flows Laboratory at the University of Massachusetts Lowell is dedicated to gaining a better understanding of these phenomena to help us develop more efficient and more sustainable technologies. In our latest blog post, we’re diving into Professor Van Dam’s research, highlighting the work that he, lab members Aman Kumar and Colin Wildman, and collaborator Professor Dimitris Assanis at Stony Brook University are conducting with CONVERGE. We cover several research projects, including fundamental studies of Spray G, flash boiling modeling of liquid ammonia sprays, analysis of hydrogen/ammonia combustion behavior, and simulations of a swirl burner for marine propulsion. Interested in trying out our cloud computing platform CONVERGE Horizon for free? All you have to do is attend the CONVERGE Horizon Workshop at the 2024 CONVERGE CFD Conference, and you’ll receive $500 in credits to try out the platform for yourself! CONVERGE Horizon includes access to on-demand CONVERGE licensing, so you don’t need to have an existing CONVERGE license to try it out. The workshop will walk you through how to use the platform, including how to create projects, manage files, and submit and monitor jobs. We’ll also showcase the new workstations feature, which allows users to pre- and post-process their simulations directly in the cloud. The workshop will take place on Thursday, October 31 at 8:40 AM CDT. Find more details and register for the CONVERGE CFD Conference here: https://lnkd.in/gFgcTyAz #CFD24 #CONVERGEcfd #CONVERGEHorizon

Back in the early 2000s, we rarely took a break from writing C code. But when we did, it usually involved sports. (Shown here are myself, Eric and Keith. This was taken at a University of Wisconsin-Madison Badger Football game. I think we won.) #cfd #convergecfd #ThrowbackThursday

Hydrogen is a promising solution to help address issues in energy security, emissions reduction, and sustainability. In order to significantly increase hydrogen production, however, we need to ramp up hydrogen infrastructure, including safe and reliable storage methods. In today’s #ThrowbackThursday blog post, we discuss how CFD can help engineers design storage tanks that are tailored to handle the challenging properties of hydrogen, such as its small size, highly diffusive and corrosive nature, and unique thermodynamic properties. We show a case study using CONVERGE’s autonomous meshing with Adaptive Mesh Refinement, conjugate heat transfer modeling, and turbulence modeling to study the filling process of a hydrogen storage tank, comparing the results to experimental data from the HyTransfer project. Check out the blog to learn more! https://lnkd.in/grWH7GVh In addition to hydrogen storage, CONVERGE is proven to be an effective tool to study hydrogen and alternative fuel combustion, batteries and electric motors, aftertreatment systems, and advanced engine concepts. Stop by our booth next week at ICE Forward 2024 to learn more! And check out CS Senior Research Engineer Pradeep Sapkota’s presentation on how to accelerate simulations of hydrogen combustion in IC engines using the Thickened Flame Model with RANS on October 21 during Session 06-02: Hydrogen Combustion. https://lnkd.in/g5bEpBsa

At our upcoming webinar, find out how a new real-fluid modeling (RFM) framework can improve the accuracy of cavitation simulations with alternative fuels, presented by Dr. Chaouki HABCHI of IFP Energies nouvelles! In-depth understanding of cavitating multi-phase flows is essential for the design and optimization of efficient energy conversion systems. In addition, replacing fossil fuels with carbon-free renewable fuels for heavy-duty vehicles is a promising solution for reducing CO2 emissions. In this webinar on November 20, Dr. Habchi will discuss the application of RFM to study cavitation formation in a heavy-duty injector using ammonia as a fuel. Surge with CONVERGE from millions to billions: CONVERGE tackled the fiery challenge of a 6 billion cell flame simulation. The only way to be fully predictive is with more resolution. At Convergent Science, we're working hard to make calculations with billions of cells a reality. The animation here shows OH mass fraction from a methane flame simulation. Halfway through the video we turn on the mesh and then zoom out. The all-black domain isn't a mistake - this shows just how packed in the cells are! Is anyone aware of a larger finite volume method CFD case? Credit to Cooper for the simulation and to Josin for the opening line. #cfd #convergecfd
