Updates

  • If you hear people saying you need to 'segment your audience' but you're thinking: →  what does that mean? →  why do I need to? →  how do I do it? ...then this workshop is for you:

    Designer

I wrote a 100-page career guide to sell to designers, but I've decided to give it away for free. Two reasons why I think it makes sense: - I'm joining ConvertKit → Soon to be Kit as their new Director of Product Design, and I'm going to take testing out the product _really_ seriously by giving away my guide as a newsletter. To get the newsletter when it launches next month, sign up here: https://lnkd.in/d-TNkH6c (ignore the landing page; it's a little out of date) - I just finished my first cohort on Maven, and it was an amazing experience. I want to double-down on in-person teaching instead of digital products because of how much I can learn from the feedback and questions. This will serve to make my content better and more helpful to all of you. Students found the tips and frameworks very practical and were able to start implementing them at work right away. If you're interested in joining the next cohort, starting in November, sign up here: https://lnkd.in/dnvcfR5h My summer was crazy. I helped deliver a big project on time for my previous employer, prepared and taught my first Maven course, interviewed and landed a new role, and flew out to the States to meet the team at ConvertKit. As a designer, I had a very successful summer. As a dad and a husband, not so much. I won't try to do so many things at once again, and definitely not whilst my kids are on vacation. At least I have a couple of weeks off now for family time. How's your summer going?

Independent Film Producer | Author | Business Strategist. GP at Producer Fund, and owner of Craftsman Films

Ok, bit of a humble-brag moment, but I only do it like once a year, so let me have this, ok? My business, Craftsman Creative, just crossed a huge milestone: $200k from consulting, courses, books, strategy calls, and events! And what timing. I started this business in August of 2021 with the announcement of my first book and writing it in public So literally 3 years to the day, something Joe Pulizzi mentioned on our podcast a while back about how long creator businesses take to reach certain milestones At times it was more of an afterthought than a business, like when I was on set on the other side of the world producing a movie in Cape Town, South Africa It's been through many iterations, and is evolving even today as I niche down further and focus on filmmakers and using the platform to get more indie films made This little business has grown more than I thought possible, and shows the power of an audience and an email list Thanks ConvertKit → Soon to be Kit and to all of the creators that have supported me along the way - there are too many to thank (but most of you get a shoutout every week in my email footer ;) What a cool thing to wake up to this morning!

    Creator Partnerships at ConvertKit

Twice a year, the ConvertKit → Soon to be Kit team gathers for in-person retreats. We come together from across the globe (84 teammates and 72 cities) for an intentional time of collaboration and connection. This retreat marks an exciting time for the company as we move toward officially becoming Kit. As our team reflected on this change, one of the questions that kept coming forward was: What are we carrying forward, and what are we leaving behind? At ConvertKit, we've always put creators first in everything we do, and that's not changing. If anything, this rebrand is a commitment that, as we grow and evolve, we will continue to show up with more intentionality. Our mission and values aren't going anywhere - we're just leaning in more. Stoked for this next chapter 👏

    Leading Recruiting at ConvertKit

Last week, our ConvertKit → Soon to be Kit team gathered in the Pacific Northwest for our bi-annual company retreat. A time to connect, refocus, and map out our future as we transition from ConvertKit to Kit. As we make this change, we're bringing forward the heart of what makes us unique: our unwavering commitment to creators. Our strategy remains focused on empowering creators to build, grow, and sustain their businesses. We're doubling down on innovation, agility, and the creator community connection. That’s always been our strength. What we’re leaving behind? The name ConvertKit. But not the values or mission that brought us here. Kit represents our expanded vision and the endless possibilities ahead. This evolution will allow us to focus even more on providing creators with the tools, support, and community they need to grow. Excited for what's ahead as we continue to build a future where creators can grow better with us! 💪 And... we're hiring! https://lnkd.in/gKB5an3N Second photo taken by my teammate Kyle Adams.
