In the United States, National Child Health Day occurs each year on the first Monday in October. On this National Child Health Day, let’s focus on the importance of having meaningful conversations with children about health, including about the meaning of organ donation and transplantation. Talking about donation and transplantation with younger children may feel intimidating, especially when it involves serious illnesses or death. However, one way to approach this conversation is by focusing on the message of life – explaining how we can help others live by sharing what we no longer need. Generosity and sharing life make organ transplants possible. Those are the messages to be emphasized when explaining donation and transplantation to children. Donate Life California offers excellent resources for guiding these discussions in a way that’s sensitive and age-appropriate. Today, let’s remember how crucial it is to talk to our kids about health, empowering them to become aware of their own well-being and the positive impact they can have on others. https://lnkd.in/dGC9S-A2 #NationalChildHealthDay #OrganDonationAwareness #DonateLife #ChildHealth #CoppelConsulting #FamilyHealthConversations

We strongly believe in amplifying important conversations surrounding health disparities, especially in organ donation. We want to highlight a recent column by Christopher B., a clinical nephrologist and member of the Lifeline of Ohio governing board. In his article, Dr. Brown calls out the significant health disparities the Black community faces in organ donation. African Americans are three times more likely to need a transplant than any other ethnicity, but on average, they wait a year longer to receive one. He discusses how the medical community is working to close this gap by building more trust with all patients — especially Black patients. By listening to the challenges they face and proactively sharing ways to prevent disease, we can help drive meaningful change. It’s one of our favorite times of the year—Hispanic Heritage Month! As we celebrate the rich cultures and contributions of the Hispanic community, we also recognize the vital role this community plays in the organ donation process. Hispanic individuals are disproportionately affected by chronic health conditions that may require organ transplants. Culturally relevant education and outreach are essential for increasing organ donation rates within the Hispanic community. At Coppel Consulting, we are committed to bridging this gap by providing tailored support and education to ensure that more lives can be saved through organ donation. We’re proud to work towards improving awareness and accessibility in organ donation, ensuring that every community has the opportunity to make a lasting impact. #HispanicHeritageMonth #CoppelConsulting #OrganDonation #CommunityImpact #CelebratingDiversity

We had a fantastic time at the Association for Multicultural Affairs in Transplantation (AMAT) 32nd annual conference! Our founder and CEO, Robert Coppel, was thrilled to be part of this inspiring event in San Diego, California. Rob had the privilege of moderating the panel “Lung Transplantation for Disadvantaged Communities” with the esteemed Dr. Reinaldo Rampolla, Marshia Caceres, Leira Marte, MSN, AGACNP-BC, Joshua Rhoades, and Anna Puhky. The insights shared were both impactful and thought-provoking, and we're grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this vital conversation. Thank you to everyone who made this conference a success. We’re excited to carry forward the knowledge and connections made to continue advancing our mission in transplantation. #AMAT2024 #Transplantation #Inclusion #Diversity #Healthcare
