Thank you to our colleague, Sara Ironside, for permitting me to share her thoughts on this article in HBR -- "Teamwork at the Top". Teamwork articles abound these days! Here is a good one from HBR in case you haven't read it: Teamwork at the Top (hbr.org). Premise: Part of the problem is that companies prioritize the development of individual leaders over leadership teams… Another obstacle to high-performing teams is internal dynamics and not addressing them. To their detriment, top teams tend to keep such difficulties secret, fearful that acknowledging their struggles could shake the confidence of their many stakeholders. The result is that they either grind along in silent mediocrity, or the CEO tries to root out the problem by replacing seemingly problematic team members. The article lists the characteristics of a top team, steps to success, and enabling factors to help build new habits. Although this information is not exceptionally different from what we know to be best practices in 'teaming', it builds a good business case for the criticality of focusing on the dynamics of a team, instead of just a single participant/leader, to look at how the team system can improve. ...again thank you Sara Ironside for sharing. for more community sharing, join our Community of Global Professionals Advancing Team Effectiveness https://lnkd.in/e4VZBBQc Free, Engaging, and Always Evolving
