Corona Regional Medical Center supported the Corona Chamber's Advocacy in Action Dinner, which was held at Dave's Family Auto Museum. The dinner raised funds for continued advocacy for Corona businesses and legislative action outreach. Our CEO Alistair Machoka and COO Morgan Topper attended the event. It was informative to hear from the keynote speaker Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco. We appreciate the opportunity to attend!

Corona Regional Medical was proud to be a sponsor of the Support Sisterz 9th Annual Walk for Breast Cancer. We had a huge response from our hospital families and added to the over 1,300 walkers in attendance. CRMC was also the First Aid Station for the Walk and provided care for any walkers who needed it. Congratulations to the Support Sisterz for not only bringing awareness to Breast Cancer but raising monies for our local women in need.

This week, Dr. Babak Yasmeh, Electrophysiologist, along with the CRMC Cardiac Cath Team, did our first dual chamber leadless pacemaker implant! This device allows direct implants into the right atrium and right ventricle with beat-to-beat communication with each other. For the patient, there is no visible scarring and no arm movement restrictions after implantation. What a wonderful advancement in technology that we now offer!

October is National Physical Therapy Month, an opportunity to raise awareness about the many benefits of physical therapy and highlight and celebrate the CRMC PT Team. It's a time to be thankful for a team that, amongst other things, gives movement to those lacking it or trying to find it again. Thank you to the CRMC PT team who are dedicated to our patient's experience, and work tirelessly 7 days a week!

Last week, Dr. William Suh and Dr. Babak Yasmeh attended the Good Morning Corona breakfast and spent some time talking with the Chamber Chair, Dr. Anthony Pirritano. In addition, they had an Open House and Ribbon Cutting for their new Apex Heart Specialist group. Dr. Suh and Dr. Yasmeh welcomed the community leaders and shared how Apex Heart Specialists will make a difference in caring for cardiac patients. Dr. Suh is an Interventional Cardiologist and Dr. Yasmeh is an Electrophysiologist. The Heart Group was honored to have our Mayor, Tom Richins, help cut the ribbon. Welcome, Apex Heart Specialists!

EARLY HEART ATTACK CARE: Don't take chest pain lightly, it is often a warning signal for a heart attack. And that is when your prompt action may be the key to your survival. Research shows that treatment of heart attacks in the first hour offers the best opportunity to prevent damage to heart muscle, and to ensure survival and faster rehabilitation. Chest compressions are good for the first few minutes for someone in cardiac arrest by pushing the remaining oxygen through the body to keep the brain and vital organs alive. It buys time until someone with more skills can provide help. Visit our website at swhcoronaregional.com for more information about our cardiology program.

This week, we celebrate our Sterile Processing Team! Sterile Processing (SP) is a relatively unknown, but vastly important, component in patient care. It is where all medical instrumentation is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized after surgical procedures. While SP staff do not directly interact with patients, their work behind the scenes helps keep patients safe by ensuring that all surgical equipment is sterilized and safe to handle. We say "thank you" to Mary, SP Supervisor, and her team for a job well done!
