Science-based programs like the Climate Smart Cotton Program are supporting #cotton growers in the adoption of climate smart agriculture (CSA) practices that will lead to storing more #carbon, building resilience, and helping to mitigate the effects of climate change. Cotton Incorporated is proud to collaborate with industry leaders through this program. Led by the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol, the five-year pilot program focuses on increasing the adoption of CSA practices, as part of the USDA Partnership for Climate-Smart Commodities pilot projects. Consumers continue to be fans of online shopping, so much so the ecommerce market is expected to generate $1.2 trillion in revenue this year. While that sounds like great news, it masks issues around fashion imports – particularly from Shein and Temu. The de minimis rule have allowed the two online fast fashion houses to rocket past competitors. Industry experts believe changes to the de minimis rule may benefit both the environment and level the playing field for traditional retailers. Read more about online shopping and how the U.S. can level the playing field in this week’s Lifestyle Monitor™ column. https://lnkd.in/dN4CjcHb #CottonIncorporated #LifestyleMonitor #ecommerce #tariffs #retail #fashion #deminimis

All textiles shed #microfibers during use and in the wash, where they then enter our waterways. Synthetic textiles are responsible for 35% of the microplastics found in our #oceans. Because of this, the type of fabric we choose matters. Unlike synthetic fibers such as #polyester, cotton microfibers are natural and biodegrade – therefore, they do not contribute to the plastic pollution problem. https://brnw.ch/21wMeu3 #CottonIncorporated #cotton #sustainability
