It's International Youth Day today! We'd like to take a moment to recognize all the incredible youth across the globe who are actively using their voices to advocate for a better, more equitable world. Your actions matter. Part of being a family means learning how to communicate with one another, how to address conflict and big feelings. Today the teens at Courage House willingly participated in a restorative justice circle facilitated by our Crisis Stabilizer Program Manager, Ronnie Rivera. It's such a gift to see our residents gain confidence in how, where, and when they express themselves because they feel safe to do so. Through conscious behavior modeling we get to learn more about ourselves and how we operate as a team which is a wonderful added bonus.

Last night two of our volunteers came and showed some of our C2 residents how to cook a homemade spaghetti meal! We even had English trifle which was to die for. We held hands before eating and it went like this, “It’s good to be together, it’s good to eat together, thank you for being here.” Simple, but perfect. We don’t get enough chances to commune with one another, to stop and learn about the different life experiences of those in our community. If you get the chance, be sure to take it!

Kohl's did it again! Yesterday this dedicated crew revamped their previous landscaping job, cleaned and painted of the front of our office! A big thank you to Sherwin-Williams for donating the supplies to touch up the paint outside. How touched we are to have volunteers who offer to come back time and time again to pour their heart into Courage. Equally wonderful it was to have some neighborhood folks come up to say thank you for making it feel nicer, to know small efforts can make an impact! ❤️
