A HUGE thank you to our organizational partners who have helped make this summer a success with classes like "Acting: Sketch Comedy," "Expressive Writing and Performance," and "Photography: Darkroom & Film." We've loved having Seattle Children's Theatre, Speak With Purpose (SWP), and Photographic Center Northwest as part of our #community this summer. We could not do this important work without the generous support and generosity from our community partners and donors! 👏👏👏 #creativity #youth #Seattle #FundCreativeFutures #arts

This week we kick off performance-based courses at Coyote Central with one of our favorite Teaching Artists, Felisha 'Ms. Queen' Barnes, teaching Singing: Ensemble Vocal Experience! When asked about the importance of Performance-based courses for Coyote youth, Ms. Queen said: "10-15 is the forgotten age. They are left out because they are too old to be young and too young to be old. Having performance classes for this age range is allowing their voices to be heard, their stories to be told, and their creative juices to flourish." Support our fundraising campaign and #FundCreativeFutures for youth who need spaces to be heard, tell stories, and flourish creatively! #creativity #performingarts #singing #acting #publicspeaking #youth #Seattle #arts https://lnkd.in/gUDhFf-r

Meet Chef Liza! Chef Liza is a Southern Louisianan who came to Washington in 2017. As an AmeriCorps teacher, she worked at Federal Way Public Schools and fell in love with cooking in communities. As a graduate of Seattle Central Culinary Academy, Chef Liza's mission is to connect people back to the Earth and each other through shared food and experiences. Chef Liza connects with youth at Coyote Central by teaching them #cooking and #baking skills, which they will take with them forever. #Donate to our campaign today to ensure youth who need the most access can cook and bake with Chef Liza! #creativity #fundcreativefutures #youth #skillsofinnovation

During our Summer quarter, Coyote Central hosts 8 weeks of 4-hour Studio Coyote courses. These happen twice a day, which is over 120 creative courses and 480 hours of instruction for youth 10-15 years old! When you walk or drive by our address, you typically see the main building more prominently. However, we also have a WHOLE OTHER building dedicated to the Industrial Arts. In this space, youth can take courses in Welding, Woodworking, and now Ceramics. These are some of our most popular courses and require not only a skilled Teaching Artist, but a Studio Assistant who can support them and the youth. Thanks to the support of 4Culture, we are not only able to offer Ceramics, but to fire and glaze clay works right here at Coyote with our new kiln! In support of youth creativity, we have also started offering 4-hour courses for #adults! This summer, we hosted adults in our welding studio and they got a feel for a day in the life of Coyote youth, complete with welding jackets and helmets. If you are interested in taking a 4-hour welding course, be on the lookout for more dates this Fall! #creativity #industrialarts #youth #fundcreativefutures #summercamp #play
