Cranberry Township

A highlight of my time at #ICMA2024 was getting to visit Cranberry Township, a gracious host of the Assistants Exchange. Not only do their pickleball courts put us all to shame, but I saw a familiar name as I approached their municipal building. Jerry Andree is a living legend who elevated Cranberry to be the envy of us all. Having seen Cranberry for the first time this week, it certainly lives up to the hype! Dan Santoro is doing a great job managing the community and a refresh of their massive municipal building. He is certainly maintaining the gold standard Cranberry has become known for.

Cranberry leaders had a chance to share the secrets of solid governance on Friday. Township administrators hosted participants taking part in the ICMA - International City/County Management Association Conference. Taking place all weekend in Pittsburgh, Friday’s activities included The Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Exchange, where municipal leaders from across the country visited and toured their counterparts in Western Pennsylvania. Cranberry hosted Rita Ramirez, Assistant City Administrator, City of La Vista, Nebraska; Carey Neal, Deputy City Manager, City of Lancaster, Texas; and Julissa Jose-Murray, Chief of Administrative Operations, Police Department, City of Long Beach, California. They were joined by Pine Township leaders, as well as Pine’s exchange participants Antonio Lopez, Deputy Town Manager, Town of Miami Lakes, Florida and Heath Lloyd, Chief Development Officer/Assistant City, City of Savannah, Georgia. The group visited several areas in the Township to see how Cranberry delivers services, leads staff, engages residents, and more. 

Township Public Works Director Kelly Maurer recently completed the Leadership Butler County Program. Leadership Butler County boasts more than 30 graduating classes and a thriving alumni network exceeding 600 members to date. Guided by a dedicated 15-member board, Leadership Butler County consistently assembles diverse cohorts of professionals representing a wide spectrum of industries and career stages. Kelly was joined by Board of Supervisors members Mike Manipole and Karen Newpol, as well as Township Manager Dan Santoro, at the annual Butler County Chamber of Commerce Celebrate Business Dinner earlier this month.

Members of Cranberry's Board of Supervisors and Administration team were on hand Saturday for the kick of the Cranberry CUP, an organization that raises funds to help community families facing tough challenges. In its 25th year, the CUP has helped dozens of community members through its annual softball tournament and golf outing, with all money remaining in the community.

Cranberry Township is seeking applicants for a full-time Administrative Clerk with the Cranberry Township Police Department. This position will regularly receive and respond to the public’s communications, inquiries, requests, and concerns. Technical support includes assisting with the coordination of court hearings, receiving and processing payments, and assisting with the management and quality control of records, files and data. The successful applicant will also assist with the internal department operations by maintaining calendars, receiving and routing mail and providing other administrative support tasks.
