This is a new initiative for us here at Crater PDC, aiming to convene folks from across the Chowan Basin and leverage their expertise into project opportunities that will address environmental concerns and outdoor recreation opportunities in the watershed. We are looking forward to working with this amazing group of folks, and bringing great things to our region!

Crater PDC is pleased to announce that we are soliciting proposals from qualified contractors to conduct a Regional Resilience Plan for all eleven of our localities with funding from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation Community Flood Preparedness Fund. See the attached document for more information on the project scope, Crater PDC, and proposal submission details. This project will be the cornerstone in CPDC's growing environmental program and support local and regional efforts in flood mitigation, stormwater management, land stewardship, and community conservation. We are looking forward to seeing your proposals!

Here at Crater PDC, we know that the best way to get to know a place is to experience it first hand, which is why our planners Kit Friedman and Landon Bridges joined David Conmy, Deputy County Administrator for Sussex County, for a gorgeous afternoon on the Nottoway River. The cool, clear water of the river, the cypress swamps, and diving osprey made for a memorable and magical trip!

We're excited to introduce Transportation Planner, Landon Bridges! Landon is originally from Spartanburg, South Carolina. He received his Bachelor's in Political Science with a minor in Communication from the College of Charleston in December of 2020. He went on to earn his master’s in City and Regional planning from Clemson University. After graduating in May, Landon moved to the Richmond area in the beginning of June and is getting married in September to his fiancée, Liv, who is a native of Richmond. They met while they were both attending the College of Charleston. Landon is excited to start his career at the Tri-Cities Area MPO/Crater PDC and looks forward to working with various people and organizations. He is excited to learn more about this region and bring valuable perspective and ideas to the area. Help us welcome our newest addition to the Crater PDC/TCAMPO Planning Team!

Crater staff spent Juneteenth with DHCD Director Bryan Horn, Petersburg Mayor Samuel Parham, and other community leaders celebrating the groundbreaking of Southside Community Development & Housing Corporation, Inc.'s High Street Apartments project. The project, supported by Crater via Virginia Housing Development Program funds, will bring 12 new affordable apartments to the City of Petersburg!
