Calling all educators! Our friends at Aspen Digital have published a media literacy lesson plan to help young people think critically about reporting on AI, licensed under CC BY 4.0. “Interpreting AI in the News: A Media Literacy Lesson Plan” equips the rising generation for an AI-driven world by fostering a deeper understanding of how the news media portrays these emerging technologies. This educational resource is geared toward high school and junior college students, and it provides teachers with a comprehensive set of assets, including a materials list, sample presentation, and vocabulary guide. In the spirit of open education, Aspen Digital welcomes anyone to use, repurpose, and expand on this work. Access the lesson plan and make it your own: https://lnkd.in/gSWHXCYf. #ArtificialIntelligence #MediaLiteracy #OpenEducation #ReportingOnAI

I am late in announcing a plot twist – my return to Creative Commons! This was not a decision made lightly. DuckDuckGo is a remarkable place to work. I have never witnessed more thoughtful attention to the how of remote work, and it is a company full of smart, mission-driven people. I have left as a better lawyer and stronger leader, and I am grateful for my time there. Ultimately, my passion is working with tight-knit teams, with the practice of law as one aspect of many. As GC at CC, I will be integrally involved in both operations and programs. This is a pivotal time for Creative Commons as it navigates the era of generative AI. I am delighted to help shape CC’s next chapter alongside many longtime friends /colleagues and so many talented new-to-me people on the team. Let's go!

We're thinking back to the Community Workshop on Preference Signals that we held in June in New York City. The conversations we had were the most focused and comprehensive to date on preference signals and we're so thankful to all those who made the event possible and took the time to attend. We plan to continue to convene our community members globally to gather input and, given the right funding opportunity, could be piloting a framework within the next year. We've published a summary and some thoughts on next steps on our blog. A huge thank you to our friends at Morrison Foerster, especially Justin Haan and Joe Gratz and NYU Law Engelberg Center on Innovation Law & Policy + Michael Weinberg for all of their support in making this workshop a success. And a special shoutout to our speakers and CC board members for their insights and ongoing support: Anna Tumadottir, Glenn O. Brown, Arun Sundararajan, Andy Parsons, Jordan Meyer, Greg Lindahl, Shayne Longpre, Marta Belcher, Delia Browne, James Grimmelmann, Angela Oduor Lungati, Bilal Randeree, Alek Tarkowski, Jeni Tennison, Luis Villa, Kat Walsh, Lawrence Lessig, and Katrina Southerland. https://lnkd.in/eqzvnaYY #GenerativeAI #GenAI #CreativeCommons #PreferenceSignals
