Despite the original series coming from Robert Kirkman’s comic, Daryl Dixon was never part of the original comic and for the most part, David Zabel could take this where he wanted to take it. “There wasn’t much of a box,” he says. “The thing I was told was that they wanted a fresh perspective on Daryl Dixon in France.” #TheWalkingDead #daryldixon AMC Networks https://lnkd.in/gKtz3HEr

For the Jim Henson #documentary, Mike Monroe and the team faced a unique challenge: the lack of introspective interviews from the man himself. This absence became an opportunity for creativity. “We should be driven to think how the storyteller in Jim would approach this,” Monroe wrote in his initial document for the project. This approach influenced the documentary’s pacing, playfulness, and visual style. The team created a unique set for interviews and incorporated elements like stop-frame animation to showcase Henson’s ideas and work in a dynamic way. https://lnkd.in/g6J7cjdR

“Since I was a kid, I was obsessed with Greek myths and any kind of reinterpretation,” says screenwriter Charlie Covell of their bold television series Kaos, which shook up the Greek gods of Mount Olympus. Charlie cites their love of Clash Of The Titans and the children’s versions of Troy as key sources of inspiration for the darkly comedic show. As Covell got older, they were influence by Percy Jackson And The Olympians, Margaret Atwood’s The Penelopiad, Jeanette Winterson’s Weight (a reimagining of the myth Atlas and Heracles) and a book of poetry by Carol Ann Duffy called The World’s Wife, where she takes myths, stories and historical figures, and puts the woman at the center, and flips some of them to shape their storytelling voice. Duffy’s version of Orpheus and Eurydice was a big influence for Covell in creating Kaos. #TVseries #screenwriter https://lnkd.in/grRx4TJ3

Ashley J. Sandberg, producer and executive producer of the summer blockbuster Twisters, didn’t start out with dreams of Hollywood. Growing up in Baltimore, Maryland, she was captivated by blockbusters like The Wizard of Oz, The Goonies, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Back to the Future. These coming-of-age stories opened up worlds far beyond her corner of Baltimore, setting her on a path that would eventually lead her to produce one of 2024’s most anticipated disaster films. Her journey to Hollywood wasn’t direct. “I thought I was going to be a news broadcast and film studies major,” she recalls. Sandberg’s passion for film led her to Pepperdine University in California. “I convinced my parents that Pepperdine was, you know, not that far away in California,” she laughs. “Somehow they finally agreed to let me come out here. My first time I’d ever been to Southern California was my first day of school and university.” As she progressed through her studies, Sandberg found herself increasingly drawn to her film classes. By the time she graduated, she knew she wanted to pursue a career in the film industry, even if she wasn’t entirely sure what that would look like. #Twisters #film
