Global expansion is an incredibly challenging endeavor that demands meticulous attention to detail and perseverance. Entering a new market, especially one as competitive as the United States, requires not only a robust strategy but also the right connections. Finding and engaging with suitable partners, investors, and advisors is critical, yet it's often one of the most difficult aspects of international growth. It takes time, patience, and a deep understanding of the local business ecosystem to make meaningful progress. Achieving even small milestones in global expansion programs can take anywhere from 2 to over 10 years. Therefore, building relationships based on mutual respect and patience is essential for long-term success. During my recent business trip to Silicon Valley, I gained invaluable insights into the U.S. expansion of Korean SaaS companies. I am deeply grateful to our local friends who made the effort to come to the Santa Clara Marriott to support our Korean startups. Seven years ago, I was fortunate to start my VC journey at Creative Ventures and learned from the best about how to think differently about Deep Tech investment (shoutout to Champ Suthipongchai James Wang Alex Luce Kulika Weizman). It feels like just yesterday I was diving my blank head into this dynamic world, full of excitement and a touch of naivety. The venture landscape has transformed dramatically since then. Market cycles, fund flows, and investor focus have shifted significantly. A few hype cycles came and gone, yet some traces were left behind what is now the baseline of the next technology breakthrough. What was once a distant concept where no one turned their head (yes, how can we not talk about Gen AI on a LinkedIn post nowadays?) is now reshaping industries and everyone's lives. Deep Tech continues to evolve at an astonishing pace. Thai people believe that 7 years is a critical milestone for any kind of relationship because it is when you know all the hits and misses of someone or something. Boredom can take over what used to be an excitement. To me, I do hate some BS in the industry that is like a poison you have to blindly take it every day in your job. VC is definitely not all-rainbow-colorful as many believe. BUT, I never forget my appreciation for the exciting parts that I will never find somewhere else. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have witnessed and been a part of this evolution. Even now it is also a year and a half since I moved to Xplor Ventures and shifted my focus to a more strategic-driven in energy sector. Appreciate everyone I am fortunate to connect with during my career.
