Just a few days ago, on March 25th, a crucial meeting for the advancement of the CRESPORT project was held in Trieste, in the beautiful setting of the Double Tree Hotel. The partners shared valuable insights on the first Work Package (WP) and made key decisions for the next phases, considering the specific needs of each port. As the project enters its operational phase, the focus has shifted to innovative solutions, strategic investments, and effective communication, emphasizing result dissemination, public engagement, and financial management. The project is now in full swing! With the second WP and the strong commitment of its partners, ports are working towards their future by adopting cutting edge solutions. • Appena qualche giorno fa, il 25 marzo, si è tenuto a Trieste, nella splendida cornice del Double Tree Hotel, un incontro cruciale per l’avanzamento del progetto CRESPORT. I partner hanno condiviso spunti rilevanti relativi al primo Work Package (WP) e preso decisioni importanti per le prossime fasi, nel rispetto delle esigenze specifiche di ciascun porto. Con l’ingresso nella fase operativa, il focus si è spostato su soluzioni innovative, investimenti strategici e comunicazione efficace, evidenziando diffusione dei risultati, coinvolgimento del pubblico e gestione finanziaria. Here we go again, talking about cyberspace!  The third training session of the CRESPORT project will take place tomorrow, focusing on the recently introduced NIS 2 Directive. Moderated by Mr.Giuseppe Puleo (Security Consultants Unit Manager – Security & Privacy Services, IBM Italia S.p.A.), the session will explore key guidelines for conducting a cyber risk assessment of a port facility or an entire port. The topics covered will include: - what are the most appropriate guidelines for conducting a cybersecurity risk assessment of a port facility or an entire port? - OT cybersecurity risk assessment according to ISA/IEC 62443 - managing supplies cybersecurity - overview of the NIS2 Directive. This event aligns perfectly with the project's goal: strengthening defenses against cyber attacks and enhancing the ability to rapidly restore the systems after a disaster. Attraverso la moderazione del Sig.Giuseppe Puleo (Security Consultants Unit Manager –Security & Privacy Services IBM Italia S.p.A.) verranno introdotte e discusse le linee guida per condurre una valutazione del rischio cyber di un impianto portuale o di un intero porto. I temi trattati saranno i seguenti: - quali sono le linee guida più appropriate per condurre una valutazione del rischio di cybersecurity di un impianto portuale o di un intero porto? - valutazione del rischio di cybersecurity OT secondo ISA/IEC 62443 - gestione delle forniture per la cybersecurity - overview della Direttiva NIS2. Un evento pienamente in linea con l'obiettivo del progetto: potenziare la difesa dagli attacchi informatici e la capacità di ripristinare rapidamente i sistemi dopo un disastro. CRESPORT-Improving the Cyber REsilience and Security of the Adriatic PORTs is the European Project within the Interreg Italy-Croatia program led by the Central-Northern Adriatic Sea Port Authority, with the Dubrovnik, Rijeka, Central Adriatic Sea, Eastern Adriatic Sea, Northern Adriatic Sea, and Ploče Port Authorities, for the generation of solutions regarding the increase in growingly advanced and dangerous cyber attacks in the supply chain and port operations. The training day dedicated to the cyber world that took place Monday in the beautiful Venezia Heritage Tower, was the first output of this innovative project. Resilience was the event’s keyword, in which the following themes were addressed: - European and national regulations and their compliance, as well as certifications and the standard framework (Nist-ISO-CSF-CIS and so on) - the relevance of reports and statistics as a starting point to take steps towards a correct approach, which must be pragmatic and systemic, based above all on dialogue - intelligence on threats and the dark web, with the definition of attacks and attackers - the interaction between AI and cyber security - the challenge of quantum computing, its impact and the future in this sense - cyber in the port environment: critical aspects, the impact on operations, the different categories of cyber attacks and strategies. A first step towards a safe ports coalition. • CRESPORT-Improving the Cyber REsilience and Security of the Adriatic PORTs è il Progetto Europeo del programma Interreg Italy-Croatia, guidato dall’Autorità di Sistema Portuale del Mare Adriatico centro-settentrionale, con le Autorità Portuali di Dubrovnik, Rijeka, del Mare Adriatico centrale, orientale, settentrionale e di Ploče, per la generazione di soluzioni in merito all’aumento di attacchi informatici sempre più evoluti e pericolosi nella supply chain e nelle operazioni portuali. Il primo output del progetto è stata una giornata di formazione dedicata al mondo cyber che si è svolta lunedì nella splendida Venezia Heritage Tower. Resilienza è stata la parola chiave dell’evento, che ha affrontato i seguenti temi: - le normative europee e nazionali e la loro conformità, nonché le certificazioni e il framework standard (Nist-ISO-CSF-CIS e così via) - la rilevanza dei report e delle statistiche come punto di partenza per muovere i passi verso un approccio corretto, che deve essere pragmatico, sistemico e basato soprattutto sul dialogo - l'intelligence sulle minacce e il dark web, con la definizione di attacchi e aggressori - l’interazione tra IA e sicurezza informatica - la sfida del calcolo quantistico, il suo impatto e il futuro in questo senso - il cyber nell'ambiente portuale: aspetti critici, l'impatto sulle operazioni, le diverse categorie di attacchi informatici e strategie.
