Testimony Time: I struggled if I was going to share this so soon, but maybe it will help someone else. I applied and went to The PhD Project conference in Chicago in November 2005. My goal was to get my PhD by 30. It was a lofty goal, that I quickly realized I was not ready for during the conference. In 2008, I applied for the PhD in Business at the University of Arkansas. The program was fully funded and only accepted 5 students a year. I was student 6. On May 23, 2008, I emailed the head of the program asking if there were any cancellations, as all of the 5 candidates who got in were from another country, and the previous year, due to paperwork issues, the program was a ‘cohort’ of 1. For the Fall of 2008, all 5 candidates accepted and got to campus early. I moved to Washington, DC, in 2011. One of the main reasons I moved was because I wanted to attend The George Washington University PhD program in Business. I started looking at the program in 2009. Well, life happened and I started working. I put the PhD on the back burner, but never stop thinking about it. The program I wanted to attend is no longer active. Fast forward to this year. I started my application to University of the District of Columbia PhD program in Urban Leadership & Entrepreneurship, but initially didn’t finish it, I finally submitted my completed application…and said if it’s for me, it will happen. Well, this Fall, I will be starting the journey to PhD!!! #delayedbutnotdenied

For the past 3 days, I have had the fortune to attend the UNCF Student Leadership Conference! I had the opportunity to network with many diversely intelligent peers and business professionals while learning skills that will propel me forth in my future careers. A special thank you to Losa Berhane and Yves Pierre for accepring me into the UNCF Toyota Scholars Program and gifting me this tremendous opportunity. I will take these things that I have learned into my role with Social Innovation at Toyota! #UNCFSLC #NewtorktoNetworth

If you don't have any license (cosmetology, etc), certifications (IT/HVAC, etc), or a college degree, what is your current profession (include City, State)? And extra credit, if you include your salary for transparency.

  • Crossroads College and Career has helped hundreds of students get to college and get money to pay for college. We have helped students gain internships while they are in college, and have also helped them secure their first full-time position after college. We hosted a webinar yesterday for students and parents…no one showed up. We have proven results, but people don’t see the value in investing in their child through paying for our services to put them on a path to success. I remember someone on here, who’s child got into one of the top HBCUs. At the time, we had 6 young men go through the same college, of which I drove 2 of them to the college to ask for more scholarship money and helped a third craft an email that got him a full ride, but because we don’t guarantee scholarships, this parent chose to NOT use me. Unfortunately, his child did not end up at that top HBCU. What we guarantee is, if your child listens to us, completes all the applications we send their way, they will be successful. I have been a scholarship reviewer for Gates Scholarship (yes, Bill Gates), for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, and countless other organizations. I know what needs to go in an essay. I know what a college application needs to look like, as I have gotten students accepted into more than 125 colleges and universities. Public, private, Top 8, and HBCUs. Do yourself a favor and watch this 5 min video and then message me for a consultation. I promise my prices aren’t nearly as high as this man….not even 10% of what he’s charging, and he’s only helping students get into their dream school. https://lnkd.in/eqwq69Za

In 2022, Black women spent over $7.4 billion on cosmetics and personal care products, while Black beauty brands comprise just 2.5% of the cosmetic industry. Spelman College is working to change that. The College is proud to announce the expansion of its STEM curriculum to include a concentration in Cosmetic Chemistry for those majoring in Chemistry and a Cosmetic Science minor. Scheduled to be offered in the fall, the program is the first of its kind at an HBCU. Read More: bit.ly/3vBKCTc
