It's that time of year again, and applications for our Eastern Leadership Academy (ELA) are coming in daily. ELA 2024 will return to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and welcome a class of about 30 state, provincial, and territorial officials and staff for three full days of skills training and regional networking starting on Sunday evening, August 25. In the U.S., public and private sector apprenticeships saw a 64% increase between 2012 and 2021. CSG and the Urban Institute have worked together for years to promote apprenticeships across the nation. On Oct. 22, 1933, a group of state legislators gathered at the Penn Harris Hotel in Harrisburg, PA - our founder, Henry Toll, recalled that day as the inception of The Council of State Governments. 90 years later, we have kept one goal at the center of our work: to advance the common good.
