The five Eastern Canadian provinces of Ontario, Québec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island are international affiliate members of CSG’s Eastern Region. CSG East is a not-for-profit association of state leaders and staff run for and by its members. In the U.S., public and private sector apprenticeships saw a 64% increase between 2012 and 2021. CSG and the Urban Institute have worked together for years to promote apprenticeships across the nation. One of our policy analysts, Mary Wurtz, sat down with Route Fifty to discuss apprenticeships - the challenges and what lies ahead. “There are all kinds of challenges around how you classify apprentices and which existing classifications are appropriate for use because apprentices have few to no minimum qualifications." https://lnkd.in/gVju7qWb

Join the Council on Communities of Color for an urgent and insightful conversation on the current state of K-12 education and how to place it on the right track. Communities are facing historic drops in math, reading, and history scores. School bullying has increased 54% over just 4 years. Homeschooling is now the fastest growing educational sector in America as public-school enrollment drops and private schools stay flat. Tectonic shifts are taking place as demographics rapidly change. Parents, students and communities face uncertainty over book bans, the removal of critical race theory from the classroom, and the end of affirmative action. Experts, policymakers and educators discuss these trends and offer potential solutions in a one-hour discussion. Open to all – click here to register: https://lnkd.in/euSxrBM9 This is a roundtable event and, while you are more than welcome to just listen, we encourage you to bring your questions and insights on the issue to the table and to share your perspective or the view from your state or jurisdiction!

On Oct. 22, 1933, a group of state legislators gathered at the Penn Harris Hotel in Harrisburg, PA - our founder, Henry Toll, recalled that day as the inception of The Council of State Governments. 90 years later, we have kept one goal at the center of our work: to advance the common good. "For ninety years, the secret to the success of CSG has been the incredible public servants who have offered their time and leadership to help guide and grow the organization." - David Adkins, Executive Director/CEO Learn more about the formation of CSG and what we've been up to the past nine decades, here: https://lnkd.in/gKBm2faw
