Congratulations to our talented film and students behind "The Pier Poet" and animation students behind "And the Dragons Danced" that won this year's CSU Media Arts Festival. We are incredibly proud to have had CSULB dominate the MAF Nominees and have these two projects win their respective categories in Documentary/Creative Non-fiction & Television News and Animation. Each year, students from all 23 CSU campuses compete for an opportunity to have their works critically reviewed by distinguished faculty and industry leaders, and these films representing our school took first position in two of four categories! Each winning project will receive a CSU Media Art Festival Reward, as well as a cash prize. Once again, Congratulations to these works and we hope to keep the streak going for next year's competition as well! Go Beach! After years of fundraising for student film productions, connecting film alums back to campus, countless events, stewarding donors, building a digital presence for the department and so much more...today is my last day in CSULB Department of Cinematic Arts! I'm fortunate to have made the connections I did in this position, many of which I will carry with me into this next chapter. Working to support our incredible filmmakers at The Beach has been one of the most fulfilling things I've ever done and has left me with memories I will always treasure. Big shout out to my two amazing colleagues Adam Moore and LaTanya Jones-Hamilton, I have enjoyed working with you both oh so much! Beyond excited for the next chapter! Stay tuned for more details... 😉
