🚨 **Breaking News on Non-Compete Agreements** 🚨 A federal judge in Texas has struck down the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) rule that would have banned employers from requiring non-compete agreements for their workers. The rule, which was set to take effect nationwide on September 4, was challenged by several businesses, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. U.S. District Judge Ada Brown ruled that the FTC has no authority to ban such practices, arguing that the agency had not justified the need for such a broad rule. This decision impacts approximately 30 million people in the U.S. who are currently bound by non-compete agreements. This ruling is a significant development for employers and employees alike, as the debate over the fairness and legality of non-compete agreements continues. Remember, state law still applies. NC requires non-competes to have a reasonable time limit, applicable geographical location, and some type of consideration for signing the document. Stay tuned for more updates as this situation evolves. #EmploymentLaw #NonCompeteAgreements #HRUpdates #FTC #LegalNews
